BRAINSTORMING FOR IDEAS...

What do you do when you find a small window of opportunity to go someplace for a quick vacation and you haven't a clue where to go?

That's where I find myself today. I have a free weekend coming up in August and I would like to take the opportunity to go someplace (preferably away from Murray Hill) and spend some quality R&R time before we hit our busy season (i.e. Football). Here's the deal: I have a round-trip airline ticket at my disposal that's good for anywhere in the U.S./Canada. I have to book my trip at least two weeks in advance, which only gives me about a week or two to make a decision and book the trip. Problem is that I'm not quite sure where to go.

My obvious choice (for those who know me well) is to take another trip north to Canada. I've already done Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto. Next destination would have to steer me west... which presents a slight problem. I would love to hit Vancouver except that I'm not sure if I am in the mood to sit on a plane for a five hour flight. That would also eliminate practically the whole West Coast I guess.

I don't really want to go someplace that's too hot or humid as I suffer enough of that here in NYC. Check off the Southwest and Southeast then. Besides, the sight of me in a speedo on the beach might cause me to get arrested.

No interest in Philadelphia or D.C. Check that off.

Just did Chicago a couple of weeks back though I could probably do it again. We'll place that on hold.

Did some research and found that America's Team (Cleveland Indians) are playing in Minnesota on the weekend in question. Hmmm.. A possibility.

Aside from that, I'm clueless. Crap. I gotta think of something soon or else I may throw myself in front of a bus.

Any suggestions?

DON'T FORGET ABOUT PUB TRIVIA WEDNESDAYS!!!

The Wisconsin Dells might be a good place for you. Nice downtown shopping, shows to see, amphibious army vehicles to ride on, mini golf, go carts. Most of the nice hotels have indoor/outdoor water parks if you really wanted to bust out that speedo. I don't know if it would be really relaxing or not...

especially with that speedo on...

Vancouver is worth the long flight. That is where I would go if I was you, but you will need more than a weekend....maybe 3 full days there. It is one of my favorite places in North America. Lots to do---nitelife, boats with whale watching in the summer, good food and they have hash bars too :) If you decide it is to far, other cool canadian places--prince edwards island. winnipeg, edmonton, nova scotia.

By the way I will be up there for a visit in early august so all you Third and Longers get ready!
