WEEKEND WRAP UP

This past weekend was a busy one at the bar. Friday night found us hosting two separate birthday parties with two distinctly different crowds. The first party started early in the evening, with a group of upper twenty-somethings celebrating the birthday of one of their friends. The party was a bit on the low-key side with many of the participants splitting time between the party itself and the Yankees/Red Sox game.

The game itself went on for what seemed to be an eternity, well past midnight (the game started at 7pm); Just in time for the second party, this time involving a large contingent of young'uns (I think the birthday boy was turning 23). They injected a new energy to the night and carried the high energy of fun all the way to last call. A long night, but a fun one nevertheless!

As for the Yankees/Red Sox game, the Yankees finally pulled out a big win in 15 innings, 2-0. Here's an interesting fact: I brought up the fact that whenever the Yankees/Red Sox play, their games always seem to take forever to play. NORBIT and I got into a debate over the time factor of each game, so we made a bet to see when was the last time these two teams had a game last under three hours. He said that it took place sometime this season and I said that it did not. So I texted the question to CHA CHA (242 242) and within minutes they came back with the answer: July 2008! (I forgot the exact date). 2 hours, 58 minutes to be exact!

Saturday night was UFC night at the bar as we hosted UFC 101: DECLARATION. UFC night always presents an interesting scenario as we tend to draw a slightly different demographic than what we normally are used to. It makes for a slightly stressful night as I have to worry about logistical things, satellite signal issues, making sure the AC is up to snuff, plus a bar filled with testosterone-filled UFC groupies who like to pound beers or cheapskates who want to see a free fight without spending a dime on drinks.

I have to say, however, that the night itself went without a hitch. No problems with signals, the bar was relatively comfortable; We kept the bar at a point where it wasn't too crowded and uncomfortable. The fights themselves were great and everyone seem to have had a good time. The staff were up to snuff, making sure everyone was served and having a good time.

The highlight of the fight night card was the stellar knockout of FORREST GRIFFIN by ANDERSON SILVA:

Sick.

Overall, it was a pretty busy yet fun weekend. I found myself wiped out from it and vegged out all day Sunday. Now it's Monday and time for a new round of fun. Starting of course, with BEER BINGO MONDAYS! It's supposed to hit 95 degrees today so what better way to cool off than with a night of beer bingo fun? Stop by after work and see what the fuss is all about!

And finally, CONGRATS go out to one of our Sunday Brew Crew regulars, who got engaged over the weekend! He's got a great girl in ANGRY BLACKMEG and I'm glad to see that they are finally tying the knot! Speaking of Sunday Brew Crew, there were more than a few Brew Crew member sightings over the past few days as ANGEL, T-BILL and CRIMSON CAMEL-TOE made appearances; Just another sign that football season is almost here!

More posts later.
