THE BAR SUB-CULTURE.

In the many years that I've been a part of the bar scene, I am consistently amazed by what we call the "sub-culture" element that flows in and out of the bar on any given night. Every night of the week has its own unique element; some nights you'll find the unique elements intertwining but for the most part, on any given night, when you walk in, you pretty much know what to expect.

MONDAY: Monday Night Football. During football season, you get the usual ball of wax; The Frat Boys (or girls) who are gung-ho into the latest games and the groupies who adore them. However, aside from that, you will also find a sub-sub culture of wannabe hipsters who isn't quite "hip" enough to live in Williamsburg; You will also find the medical student who's out for a break from the studies to have a rendezvous with fellow students or a hook-up.

TUESDAY: Dollar Draft Madness. Typically young professionals looking for the most bang for their buck (literally). They feel empowered by the almighty dollar and the thrill of being about to buy a round of beers and look like a bigshot without spending bigshot money. Early after-work crowd who starts out with a bang and usually ends in a whimper around midnight.

WEDNESDAY: Beer Bingo/Pub Trivia. Young professionals just like Tuesday, except that the folks that come by tend to be the group from the office looking to blow off steam after work. A time to vent about the workplace over drinks. With the format of the evening, there's friendly, spirited competition amongst the groups and there is a lot of camaraderie that takes place. A lot of local regulars and the occasional tourist or newbie who find themselves getting sucked into the action.

THURSDAY: "Thirsty Thursdays". A hodge-podge mix of young and old, looking to go hard and kick start the upcoming weekend. A lot of hook-ups and the occasional bizarre moment takes place on this night.

The weekend? Well we all know what the weekend brings so there's no need to re-hash that here. I'm more intrigued by the interactions of the weeknights and even though I usually know what to expect, I'm still fascinated by it just the same. It's a different world at night, folks. It really is.

THIRD and LONG hosts Beer Bingo/Pub Trivia this Wednesday, featuring $4 Mixed Well Drinks (for ladies) and Miller High Life buckets (5/$15)! Fun begins at 7pm and plenty of prizes to be won and fun to be had! Get there early as the joint fills up quickly!

Not fair, you get to talk about work all the time. If only I could without worrying about getting fired...

Where do the pathetic alcoholics in the corner fit in?
