A NIGHT OF REUNIONS....

Last night we hosted our weekly edition of Pub Trivia, with "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" being the central theme of the night. We had a pretty good turnout for the trivia (which we normally do) and things were going according to plan when I looked up and saw a very familiar face. As it turned out, it was the face of 'NESS, one of my former students. She happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to pop in to say hello.

Now those of you who don't know my full past, don't realize that I actually had a life outside of the bar a while back. I had various careers, first in Social Work and then in academia (first as a Residence Director, then as an Academic Adviser) before making my way down to 3rd Avenue to run a bar. I didn't plan it that way; life has a strange way of making detours I guess.

Anyhow, during my current stint managing the bar, I've come across many people from my past, both from academia as well as my college days. Tonight was one of those nights where I had a bit of both. As I mentioned before, 'NESS was one of my former students with whom I've kept in touch with over the last 5-10 years. A great girl then and a great girl now. We don't see each other that often (marriage and three kids keep her busy), however, when we do see one another, we pick up as if it was yesterday. Always nice to see her.

Later in the evening I was outside talking to a few of the neighborhood types when I hear my name being yelled from across the street. I look up and I see ERIN, a young lady that I was very good friends with from my college days; I hadn't seen her in almost 20 years! She looked exactly the way I remembered her from our Concordia College days! She was coming from a Brad Paisley concert with her husband and decided to stop by the bar to say hi. We ended up chatting up a storm for almost two hours before they finally had to trek back home to Long Island. It was really cool to see her and it brought back a flood of good memories from our days in Westchester. Good stuff.

So between the fun night of Trivia, and the mini-reunions throughout the night, I have to say it was an enjoyable shift at the bar.

TONIGHT: It's "Thirsty Thursday" and that means $4 Sam Adams/Coors Light drafts and Miller Lite/Coors Light buckets (5/$20), 5-11pm. Catch the NY Yankees as they attempt to close out the ALCS over the Anaheim Angels. First pitch is at 8:07pm and we'll carry the game WITH SOUND! Get there early as we are sure to fill up quickly. The NY Rangers are also facing the rival NJ Devils (7pm) so catch them in action as well!

That's it. That's All I Got.
