DO I SMELL A REMATCH?

In the marquee matchup of the Men's Hockey Quarterfinals, Team Canada put everyone on notice that they aren't dead yet, beating, er should I say, DESTROYING their rival counterparts, Team Russia, 7-3 in a game that wasn't even that close. From the opening face-off, Team Canada threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Russians, scoring fast and often and Team Russia simply could not recover. They didn't know what hit them, much to the delight of the host country's fans who wore their colors proudly. This performance definitely made everyone take notice that they are back and will be a force to reckon with in the race for the gold medal. Next up for Team Canada: Slovakia (who upset Sweden) on Friday (9pm)

Team USA continued their run towards the gold medal, thanks to the stellar goaltending of Buffalo's Ryan Miller, shutting out Team Switzerland, 2-0. The Stars and Stripes peppered the Swiss defense with a ton of shots and the defense provided a brick wall of support for Miller as he only faced 19 shots (to Team USA's 44) and frustrated the Swiss team throughout the game. Very methodical and effective. Next up for Team USA: Finland on Friday (3pm).

Will we get our rematch for the Gold Medal? Stay tuned..

While all of this was taking place, we hosted our Pub Trivia Tournament of Champions. It was Round Six of our round-robin tournament and with three slots left to fill for our Finals, we had a pretty enthusiastic crowd on hand to take part in the competition. Between the diehard regulars who make the trek every week and the newbies who stumbled onto our weekly event thanks to the Russia/Canada game, it made for a fun night.
