The bar was teeming with activity this past weekend and I can honestly say that there were plenty of good times to be had.
FRIDAY: We hosted a night of live music with Staten Island's MIKE RUSSO providing the entertainment for the evening. He provided the bar with over four hours of great music and we also got to see a lot of new faces because of it.
There were plenty of singing and dancing to go around and he ended up playing a couple of encores after his four-hour set. It's safe to say we'll have him back again sometime this summer!
SATURDAY: The highlight of the day was the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE final pitting INTER MILAN and BAYERN MUNICH. At practically the same time, we also had the Game 4 NHL playoff game featuring MONTREAL and PHILADELPHIA.
At first I was concerned about how this would play out. Between the diehard soccer fans and fans of both the Habs and Flyers would be clamoring to watch their "must-see" games. Who would get audio for their game? I actually lost sleep trying to figure out how to handle this situation.
However, the gods prevailed upon us and we ended up having a great afternoon of sports. Both games were aired and we alternated audio between the games. The soccer match started about 30 minutes earlier than the hockey game so it allowed me to switch the audio over to the hockey game during halftime and back over to the soccer match in between periods. Everyone was happy and got along peacefully (even after the Flyers shut out my Habs yet again).
SUNDAY: A low key day compared to the rest of the weekend. I spent it running errands and such. Nothing crazy. The evening found the whole strip pretty quiet, even with the Lakers/Suns and Yankees/Mets playing in prime time. My guess is because most folks were rushing home to catch the "Lost" finale. No big deal. May as well get mentally prepared for what's coming up this week, the week before the "unofficial" kick off of Summer!
TONIGHT: "Mug Night Madness" featuring $1 mugs, Bud/Bud Light and $2 mugs, all other domestic drafts as well as Molson Canadian ALL NIGHT LONG! Catch Game 5 of the NHL Eastern Conference finals between MONTREAL and PHILADELPHIA (w/audio)! Beer Bingo follows the game so stick around!
