NO BUZZ IN THE BRONX?

With the dreaded arch-enemy Boston Red Sox coming into town this weekend, this is the first time that I can remember where there wasn't any type of buzz or hype going into a Red Sox-Yankees series.  Perhaps it's because the Red Sox are almost out of contention for the playoffs for the first time in a long while? Or is it that the emergence of the Tampa Bay Rays have made Boston more or less irrelevant these days?  I'm sure there will be members of Red Sox Nation who think they still believe in miracles but I think a ticket to the playoffs are not in the cards this year.  And Yankee fans being who they are, they seem to have already moved on to more important things, such as winning the division and going back to the World Series.  Oh well....

MYSTERY OF THE 3rd AVENUE PIMP.

Every day tons of people walk briskly up and down 3rd Avenue, rushing off to various destinations with blank looks on their faces.

Perhaps they are focused on where they have to go or maybe they have a thousand things on their minds.  It's definitely a New York thing, that's for sure.  Rush, rush, rush with no regard to what's going on around them.

While all of this is taking place, there is this one guy who goes against the norm.  I don't know who he is or what he does exactly, but he certainly stands out in a crowd.  I've dubbed him "The 3rd Avenue Pimp" for obvious reasons.  He wears these outlandish outfits, starting with the distinctive top hat with the colorful feathers;  The long black jacket and best of all, the silver sparkle boots that reminds me a lot of the rock band KISS.  And while everyone's rushing up and down 3rd Avenue towards their next destination, this guy is cool as a cucumber, doing the peacock strut down the block without a care in the world.

He's walked by the bar practically every day for years and every time he does, folks stop in their tracks and stare in amazement.  Some even go up to him and ask him for a picture, which he gladly does (as in the case here).  Who is this mystery pimp of 3rd Avenue?  No one knows.  But he is certainly a neighborhood celebrity, that's for sure.

Dude, when I grow old and hopefully don't have a worry in the world, that's totally what I'm going to do. Dress all big pimpin' and stroll around town, getting my picture taken with all the hotties.

But you know, in some f'ed up universe, this guy probably has a blog and writes about you and how you're at the bar (working) every damn day while he's strolling around town. So who's the looney one now?
