After a long week involving lots of rain and chilly temperatures, we get a reprieve this weekend as the weather pundits call for nothing short of a beautiful fall weekend. 70+ degrees and sunshine all the way through Columbus Day. What more could you ask for?
This bodes well for the hometown Yankees as they look to complete the sweep against the Minnesota Twins at the stadium on Saturday night. It also bodes well for those of you who plan on traveling on this holiday weekend. Of course, for you college and pro football fans, there's nothing like catching games at the local bar with the windows wide open and the fall breeze blowing in. This is a perfect as it gets.
We are open all weekend long of course, and if you are curious as to what we are offering, check out the bar's website to get the scoop on all of the happenings at Third and Long.
Last night was a good night at the bar as we saw the NY Yankees continue their dominance over the Minnesota Twins, 5-2 on the road. Say what you will about the Yankees looking shaky going into this series, but it looks to me like they picked the right opponent to start their quest for the World Series as the Twins can't seem to find an answer to their pesky rivals. They way things look now, unless something major happens, it's going to be the Yankees vs Rangers in what should be a great series.
We also had an enthusiastic crowd in to watch the Montreal Canadiens face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs on what was Opening Night of the National Hockey League. The Maple Leafs walked away with a hard fought 3-2 victory, much to the chagrin of Habs fans, myself included. Between the baseball playoffs and the hockey games, there was a definite buzz in the air.
Damn I love this time of the year!
We're kicking off Columbus Day Weekend with $4 Domestic Drafts/Mixed Well Drinks (12-9pm)! Catch the Phillies vs Reds (6pm), followed by Giants vs Braves (9pm). There's NHL hockey going on as we speak as San Jose plays Columbus (in Sweden) @ 3pm, followed by NJ Devils vs Dallas, Buffalo vs Ottawa, Detroit vs Anaheim, and Washington vs Atlanta (7pm)! A full slate of sports on tap!
Don't forget, we are home of the NFL Sunday Ticket, NHL Center Ice & ESPN Game Plan!
AND FINALLY: I want to send out my heartfelt congratulations to CHRIS LONG (aka THE COOLER) and Damien Haygood (aka ANGRY BLACK) as they prepare to walk down the aisle with their respective loved ones this weekend! Good luck and god speed to the both of you!
That's It. That's All I Got.
