RIDING THE (heat)WAVE....

It's October 26th, a few days away from Halloween and halfway through the Fall season and yet, we're about to hit a mini-heatwave!  With temps approaching the upper 70's-low 80's over the next few days, New Yorkers (myself included) are bound to make the best of this bizarre weather situation.  Of course that means breaking out the summer gear for one last fling and doing the summer fun things like rooftop bars, outdoor dining and Central Park runs.  While this is great, it will no doubt have ramifications next week as scores of you will probably get sick (it's almost certain that I will).  It always happen when we get these weird weather changes.  So enjoy it now because you'll probably pay for it later!

Last night's NY Giants/Dallas Cowboys game produced a packed house hoping for a great game.  If you were a Giant fan, you got your wish.  After a slow start, the Giants caught a lucky break (not so lucky for Dallas and their QB Tony Romo) and ended up going buck wild on the Cowboys on their home field, notching up three straight touchdowns before settling for an ugly 41-35 win.  Dallas fans stormed out of the bar under the painful taunts of happy Giants fans celebrating in and outside the bar.  I'm always amused at how fanatical New Yorkers are about their sports teams. Interesting.

I am almost fully recovered from a hectic weekend of double-doubles that included a very busy Saturday (including a rousing UFC ppv event) and Brew Crew Sunday (including a crazy Miami/Pittsburgh football game).  As busy as we were the whole weekend, I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly everything went. No fights, no major problems of any kind, I couldn't have asked for better, given the schedule I had.  Kudos as always to my staff who brings me 100% when I ask for it, and even when I don't.  When the whole team is on the same page, everything falls into place.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I think I may have rediscovered my love for Twitter.  When Twitter first came out, I was onboard briefly but fell out of it because no one was really doing the Twitter thing.  Soon after I stopped using Twitter, it blew up into this worldwide phenomenon.  I eventually got back into it, more for the bar than for myself.  However, I am finding myself enjoying it more and more; not to the point where I am living on it via phone every two minutes mind you;  But just enough to read/enjoy the various tweets of people I follow and who follow me.  I'm still learning the nuances of Twitter (I still don't know how to post pics on there) but I'm sure I'll finally get the hang of it.  I currently handle two accounts:  ThirdandLongNYC (bar) and Swandad (personal).  Feel free to follow them if you are a Twitter person like myself!

Ok, since it's going to be a beautiful day today, there's no sense in me sitting inside.  I'm off to handle some business before DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS kicks in later today. Don't forget we'll be holding Pub Trivia at Third and Long tomorrow night starting at 8 pm. Come by to play (for free!) and catch Game 1 of the World Series, NBA hoops and the NHL Center Ice package. We've got great drink specials on tap and will have a special batch of Halloween-themed questions for tomorrow night's trivia. Teams of 1-6 people are welcome to play, so come by and see us tomorrow night! Enjoy the day!

That's It.  That's All I Got.

That's doing better than me, buddy. I think I've been on Twitter maybe 2, 3 times and I couldn't even tell who was sending what to whom. Looked like a cluster fuck to me.

And I still haven't been on that other one, um, Facehook?

Hi! I didn't know you had a blog. I can't wait to finally visit NY, whenever that happens, I'd love to stop by the bar & say hi.
