DEJA VU...

If you are a fan of the NY Rangers, you suddenly find yourself in a familiar position: looking forward to one game to determine your playoff fate.

Heading into last night's game against Atlanta, the NY Rangers had everything going for them.  They were in full control of their playoff destiny and playing a home game versus a team that was already out of playoff contention.  What better scenario could you ask for?

Apparently it wasn't enough for the Blueshirts as they had everything in place to solidify their place in the playoffs, only to shit the bed and lose to the Thrashers, 3-0.  The only cool thing about this game was the pre-game ceremony, where Brandon Prust, good friend of the bar, received the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award (good job buddy).  It went downhill from there as the Rangers looked like crap, which was pretty surprising considering everything they had to play for.

And now, because of the pathetic showing they had in last night's game, they find themselves in practically the same situation they were in last year:  Needing help from other teams as well as having to win their last game of the season.  To make things worse, they will have to do it against New Jersey, who no doubt will be looking forward to playing spoiler and sending the Rangers to the golf course instead of the playoffs.

In the meantime, we have TWO huge games taking place tonight that directly affect the NY Rangers future: Philadelphia vs Buffalo and Carolina vs Atlanta.  If you are a Ranger fan, you better hope Atlanta does to Carolina what they did to your team.

OPENING DAY FESTIVITIES continue today as the NY Yankees play Boston in the Red Sox home opener at Fenway Park (2pm).  Meanwhile, the NY Mets hosts the Washington Nationals in their home opener at Citi Field (4pm).  We're carrying both games LIVE w/audio and serving up a $5 Hometown NY Lager and hot dog special all afternoon (while supplies last)!

What fate beholds the Blueshirts?  Only time will tell, but I don't have a good feeling about this outcome...

Cheers!
