HEATWAVE TIME

It's two weeks before the official start of Summer and yet today, we will experience the first heatwave of the year.  My favorite weather girl, LINDA CHURCH says expect the temps in the area to soar between 90-100 degrees for the next few days, so dress light, drink plenty of cold ones (fluids I mean) and keep it cool.

New Yorkers have been treated to a great batch of sports action lately as both the NBA and NHL Finals have provided riveting results.  Every game in both series have been great to watch, whether it be for the clutch finishes or the dramatic storylines that continue to unfold.  Even though there aren't any NY-area teams involved in either playoff final, we still find ourselves drawn to the TV's to watch the games.  Of course, that's great for business so you can expect bars around the city to pull for a long series in both the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup.  And the way things have played out so far, it looks like we'll get our wish.  TONIGHT: Game 4, Stanley Cup Final, Boston vs Vancouver (8pm).

Just a reminder: Don't forget to stop by tomorrow after work for our World Police and Fire Games Bar Tour Fundraiser (6-9pm).  The Games are coming to NYC in August and as the city gears up for the exciting start of the 2011 World Police & Fire Games we are hosting the WPFG NYC BAR TOUR

Featuring some of the best bars New York City has to offer, the bar tour is a chance to come out and have some fun while supporting the biggest sporting event hosted in New York City!  A $20 donation for tomorrow night's event will get you a wrist band that entitles you to:

$3 Bud/Bud Light/Shock Top pints
$4 Bud/Bud Light bottles
$4 Well Drinks

during the event! There will be raffles and giveaways during the event as well as great music and an opportunity to mingle with members of Team NYC!  Make sure to stop by for a great cause and support the Games!

PUB TRIVIA TONIGHT (8pm)!  Join us for a night of pop culture fun as teams go head-to-head for bragging rights and great prizes!  Free to play but get there early as seats tend to fill up quickly!  We will also have NYY vs Red Sox as well as the Stanley Cup Final airing on the TV's so there will be something for everyone!  Full Sail Session Buckets (5/$20),  $4 Molson Canadian/Labatt Blue bottles (during the Cup) and Mixed Well Drinks (for ladies)!

AND FINALLY: Our draft beer selection is constantly changing.  We recently had SIXPOINT Sweet Action on tap and when its run ended, we had an outcry from patrons who were disappointed to see it go. So we brought it back: in a can!  SIXPOINT now comes in 16oz cans (or "nanokegs") and you can now continue to enjoy your Sweet Action, just the way you like it ($6/can).

Normally I am not a big fan of beer from a can, but I gotta tell ya, I was very impressed.  I poured mine into a glass and it tasted as good, if not better (if that's possible) than on draft.  And that's saying a lot coming from me.  So next time you're at the bar, try one for yourself and tell me what you think of SIXPOINT Sweet Action's "Nanokegs"!

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook or Twitter (@thirdandlongnyc)!

Cheers!

What's up with your boy Pryor and the floundering/flatulating Ohio State athletic department? First they give us the 30-year-old Odom, now the money hungry ex-quarterback.
