Not sure if you notice an uptick of unshaven gents walking around the neighborhood for the last couple of weeks or so. If you have, chances are they are participating in MOVEMBER, in support of prostate cancer research. The premise of MOVEMBER is simple. Collect pledges from family and friends while growing a mustache for the month.
Our original intention was to start a spirited campaign between staff members and patrons alike to see who could rock the best mustache and raise the most money at Third and Long. Then Hurricane Sandy came along and naturally, the focus immediately went to that and our Movember efforts stalled before it even began.
In the meantime, we'd planned on having an end-of-month party, celebrating our efforts towards supporting the Movember cause, sponsored by House of Shandy's Curious Traveler. (ironically enough, it has a mustache as its logo). Now that the event is rapidly approaching, we decided that we should go ahead and have it anyway and whatever donations we get that night, we'd send to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, in the name of the patrons and staff of Third and Long, in honor of Movember.
So this Thursday night, we're hosting our "SHOW yo 'STACHE NIGHT". If you walk through the door sporting a mustache, you'll immediately get a free mug of Curious Traveler Shandy. Make a $10 donation at the door, you'll receive a bracelet, good for $3 Curious Traveler pints, $4 domestic pints & well drinks (7-11pm). And we'll be holding a judging for the most creative/coolest looking mustache! There will be a male and female winner, so everyone has a chance to win a prize! There will be giveaways as well, including mustaches from Curious Traveler!
