#BCS CHAMPIONSHIP: The Aftermath

Last night, the bar was teeming with college football fans anticipating an epic battle between Alabama and Notre Dame, with the BCS National Championship on the line.  As it turned out everyone showed up for the big game.. except Notre Dame.  From the opening kickoff until halftime, it was all Crimson Tide as they imposed their will on the Fighting Irish and never looked back.

To say this game was ugly is an understatement.  A couple of unlucky calls going against ND added to the onslaught and by halftime, it was 28-0, and there was no looking back, much to the chagrin of ND fans in the bar.  And to make things worse, there was ONE 'Bama fan in the bar and he thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the game, much to the chagrin of the ND fans who would have loved to push him down the stairs.

When the game FINALLY ended, it was Alabama who claimed their 3rd BCS title in four years in convincing fashion, 42-14.  While the dream season for Notre Dame ended on a sour note, Fighting Irish fans have no reason to hang their heads in shame.  After what they endured the past few years, their program has flourished under their current coach and they have a bright future ahead of them.  As for the Crimson Tide... they are just plain scary.  They seem to keep reloading and reloading and will be a team to reckon with for years to come.

And with that, no more college football for this season.  Which works out perfectly as the NHL and the NHLPA FINALLY came to their senses and worked out a deal to end a 113-day lockout, which annoyed fans everywhere (myself included).  Barring any last minute setbacks, the NHL is slated to drop the puck on Saturday, January 19th and we'll be ready to carry all NHL games for our fans!

Cheers!
