JOIN US TONIGHT FOR OUR FINAL PUB TRIVIA NIGHT!

Join us tonight as we host our final edition of PUB TRIVIA NIGHT!

As we wrap up our time in Murray Hill, one of the highlights of our existence here was our weekly Pub Trivia Night.  For the past five years, Wednesday nights were all about Pub Trivia at Third and Long, attended by a faithful contingent of trivia buffs.  Originally introduced to us by former staff member OPIE CUNNINGHAM and led over the years by various hosts, leading up to our current co-hosts BRAD and BIG RED,  Pub Trivia quickly and consistently became one of our most popular nights of the week.

And now that we're going to close up shop in the next few days, it's fitting that we host our last-ever Pub Trivia Night tonight, with tonight's theme being MEMORIES.

So if you are a long time fan of our Pub Trivia nights, please join us tonight for our farewell edition of PUB TRIVIA!

READY FOR THE WEEKEND... I THINK.

It's late Thursday night and the evening seems to be winding down. The crowd tonight was pretty mellow for the most part; relatively busy but very laid back. Not sure if the muggy weather sapped out the energy from everyone but it's definitely a "blah" vibe.

BLONDE CHATTERBOX (r.) is leaving us for greener pastures of the West Coast. In fact, next Friday will be her last time behind the stick. So she's been "chatting" it up, so to speak, sharing details of her impending move. We were also talking about funny moments from the past (and trust me, with her, there's plenty). That being said, we're having a "FAREWELL STEPH" bash for her next Thursday night at the bar. Anyone who's had any experience with her (get your mind out of the gutter!) should make it a point to stop by and say your good-byes. I can safely say that it will be a memorable experience.

FASHION DISASTER ALERT! I know that I've harped on this in the past but the more I harp on it, the more I see it and the more vexed I get. This dress/leggings look that all of the Murray Hill fembots wear ad nausum drives me up the wall! Am I the only one that thinks that this look is terrible? Nothing redeeming about it. Either wear a dress or wear leggings. WTF? AAaaarrrgggh!

Sorry kids, simply just not feeling it. Call me crazy. Would it be PETA of me if I were to slap the next woman wearing this outfit with a banana peel? (I wouldn't really slap any woman with anything- I'd pay someone to do it for me)

BASEBALL TRADE DEADLINE COMES AND GOES. So the much-anticipated MLB trade deadline was yesterday and while there weren't many trades in general, there were a couple of doozy moves that affects the local teams. The NY Yankees made a move to shore up their catcher position by bringing on vet Ivan Rodriguez (via Detroit). I-Rod (or Pudge as he's affectionately known as), isn't a spring chicken, however he brings to the team experience, an established bat and a strong throwing arm. Tools that the Yankees can always use. Then to make things more interesting, the rival Boston Red Sox made a huge move, trading its disgruntled star, Manny Ramirez to the L.A. Dodgers for young, upcoming star, Jason Bay. Only time will tell how these deals will have an effect on these two rival teams. Stay tuned....

UPCOMING NEWS: Now that we're secure with a *five-year lease extension*, Third and Long will be closed after business hours next Saturday (August 9) for a couple of weeks, while we handle some "cosmetic changes" to the place. We should be open again by the end of the month. Once we're back up and running, look out for the "AOL Best Sports Bar in NYC" Victory Party on Wednesday, August 27. Look at it as our rebirth, so to speak. Should be a fun time! \\

FRIDAY NIGHT: "Weekend Kick-Off" (5-10pm), $4.00 All mixed well drinks and draft beers! Start the weekend out right!

SATURDAY NIGHT: "Kick the Keg Saturdays" (12pm-10pm); $2.00 mugs, ALL BEERS ON TAP!

Enjoy the weekend and keep your comments coming!

FRIDAY NIGHT CATCH-UP

It's early Friday night and I'm at the bar right smack dab in the middle of Happy Hour. I was able to secure one of the small tables by the window, so that I could catch up on emails and blog stuff, while at the same time, casually observe what's taking place around the bar.

First observation: There are a LOT of hot chicks out tonight. Many of them seem a tad bit more dressy than what you would normally see on a warm Summer night. If I had to guess, I would say that many of them were on their way to the Sex in the City movie or a Sex in the City party somewhere nearby. In any case, plenty of eye candy to go around. I wonder how many requests for Cosmos we'll get tonight? Hmmmm...

Second, it seems that one of our "prodigal sons" has returned to the neighborhood. Yes, the one an only DIRTY SANCHEZ, who unceremoniously dropped off the face of the earth months ago, has resurfaced back in Murray Hill. The jury's out on how long he'll be with us this time around, but from all indications, he's alive and well, for what that's worth. And at the end of the day, that's a good thing.

Third: Leg update. Treatments are going well (though they are painful as all hell), and while I have at least another month of treatments ahead of me, things are looking up (or at least that's what the doctor says).

Next- HAPPY TRAILS.... First it was ANGRY BLACK who bid us a fond farewell. Now add REDSKINS GIRL to the list as she bid the Big Apple and Third and Long a low-key farewell as she moved back to her homeland of Virginia. Interestingly enough, she moved back home exactly two years to the day she moved here to New York. Talk about coincidence! While it was sad to see her go, I totally understand her reasons for leaving us as it was purely a professional one. We wish her all the best in her new endeavors- she definitely left a mark on Third and Long.

On Another Note: Congrats are in order to NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and GOLDIE. The runty one is finally getting tied down! NAPOLEON DYNAMITE is scheduled to walk down the aisle with his lovely fiancee, SMURFETTE at the end of July, in what should be a doozy of a wedding. Nuptials scheduled to take place in Rhode Island.

As for the GOLDEN ONE, he and his wife are expecting their first bundle of joy! Yes, GOLDIE's going to be a dad! As of right now, they don't know if its going to be a boy or girl but I'm sure they will keep us posted. Congrats to all of them!!!

RANDOM PICS from the last week or so.....

Yes, boys and girls, this is GEEK SQUAD, in all of his glory....

THE RUNNING MAN trying out his "Macho Pose"...

Look at what I came across the other day.... HIS BOY ELROY, in 8th Grade. Giddy-up!

REDSKINS GIRL and BABY GIRL, working together one last time. *sigh*

BETTY BOOP, NORBIT, SILENT BOB and BLONDE CHATTERBOX, chillin out.

That's it for now. Look for more updates in the future and keep your fingers crossed that I keep my Internet signal for more than 24 hours! Enjoy the weekend!
