HOT TIMES IN THE WINTER TIME?

Last night was a crazy night at Third and Long. What originally started out as a hockey promo quickly changed into JETS Central as the NY Jet fans took over the place and made it their own. The fans who showed up for the promo were more or less bullied out of the bar by the sheer numbers of the JETS fans, who were there for what was for all intents and purposes, their "Super Bowl".

Throughout the night, the JET fans were enthusiastic, chanting J-E-T-S, J-E-T-S, J-E-T-S what seemed like every five minutes; There were a few that demanded that the JET game be played on EVERY TV, which made no sense to me. If you have the your team playing on two TV's right next to each other, what difference is it going to make if you have something else playing on the third TV? Especially when you are standing right in front of a TV that had the your team playing on it? How about showing some consideration for the guy who may be watching something else? Sheesh. Talk about whiny.

Aside from that, the atmosphere was a fun one. The game was pretty intense, with the New York team jumping out to a commanding lead, only to lose it in the end. It took a dramatic overtime field goal by Jets PK JAY FEELY to deliver a victory to an ecstatic crowd. All told, it was a fun night.

GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES.....

Last night we held our weekly Pub Trivia night and this time around, we decided to up the ante just a bit. This week, instead of having a team win the competition, collecting their prize and then calling it a night, we introduced the "Trivia Cup", a silver bowl that would be awarded to the winning team, along with a cold six-pack of Bud Light (on top of the weekly first prize of a $30 bar tab).

Then next week, the team that wins the "Trivia Cup" will get to come back and defend their "title"; This includes the placement of the "Trivia Cup" at their table (any table of their choosing, by the way) during the night of the Pub Trivia challenge. If they successfully fight off the challengers and win again, they get to "keep" the "Trivia Cup" (and all of its perks) for another week. If they can successfully win five weeks in a row, they will receive a BONUS prize (on top of everything else they've won already).

So with last night's crowd being one of the biggest in quite some time, competition was pretty fierce. When the smoke cleared, the team featuring YOUNG JEDI and NORBIT (the team name escapes me, something that had to do with the "inseam" or something), came out victorious. Now they get to come back next Wednesday and defend their "title" against all comers for the "Trivia Cup" and bragging rights for another week.

Oh, and to the "big shot" who wanted to impress his friends, tipping a BUCK for a $51.00 tab isn't really the best way to go about doing that (and you know who you are, cause trust me, we sure do). Good job. Next time, bring your changepurse.

There were again, plenty of chicks who were there for the trivia and for the fellas as well. As a result, there were plenty of hook-ups taking place (get a hotel room!) by the end of the night.

We booked the promotion and then realized afterwards that the NFL started their Thursday Night promotion earlier than expected. In years past, they didn't begin televising Thursday night games until Thanksgiving Day. This year, however, they pulled a fast one on us by bringing us games earlier in the season. And to make it even more interesting, they scheduled the JETS vs PATRIOTS for the same night. So now, we have tons of hockey AND Jets/Pats on tap for Thursday night.

Talk about a "win-win" for everyone! It will make for a busy night so you better get there early and secure your spot.
