FRIDAY NIGHT FUNTIMES....

Yesterday was one of those days where the surreal dominated the course of the day. For starters, it was a balmy 68 degrees, which is almost unheard here for the month of November. Now I'll take a nice warm day any day of the week, however, we'd just switched our air conditioning system over to winter mode. That means that now when you switch on the unit, it blows out hot air instead of cold. That made for a rather warm and stuffy night, so much so that we had to keep our windows open much longer than normal. While some folks complained about being uncomfortable, most dealt with it with a nice cold beer (or in some cases, a few).

I also noticed right away that Happy Hour must have been a hit because there were quite a few tipsy folks bopping around. For example, there was this one guy, had to be in his late 40's. Bald, rocking a Grateful Dead tee-shirt and unusally hyper. He'd grab a drink, run from group to group and interrupt conversations by dancing, singing or just being plain annoying. If he wasn't doing that, he was pretty much making love to the jukebox, pumping in credits at a record pace. Eventually he got cut off and of course, he wasn't happy about it, storming out of the bar in protest. See ya.

Then there was Ms. Boozy Blonde.


This one was having a good ol' time too. If she wasn't holding court at the bar, she was making her way from group to group, but instead of annoying folks with crazy talk and ridiculous dancing, she decided that she wanted to be friends with everyone by hugging them. Eventually she had to get the beer faucet cut off from her glass because to be honest with you, doll baby was lit like a Christmas Tree and had to go. I don't think she even realizes that she got cut off. Bless her heart.

The rest of the night went pretty smoothly, despite the rather warm atmosphere. As I said before, most folks were tolerant of the conditions and made the best of it.
