HEATWAVE HYSTERIA!

Brace yourselves, folks; the Big Apple is in the midst of yet another heatwave, with 90-plus temps baking us into a frenzy. So far we've had 10 days of 90-plus degree days this summer (the record is 20 days of 90-plus degree days, in 1993 I think); We are well on our way to at least tying that record. My favorite Weather Lady, LINDA CHURCH predicts that we will see 90-plus temps ALL WEEK LONG, which makes me cringe.

I don't do well in weather like this as it makes me wilt like a dried up plant in the desert. And the fact that each day will also carry high humidity numbers is enough to make one want to go nuts. What I am most worried about is how the bar's AC unit will hold up in this kind of heatwave. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the unit will hold up to the workload it's about to receive this week. Nothing worse than trying to enjoy a cold beer in a hot bar. Stay tuned.

The recent heatwave has caused me to also look at the calendar to figure out when to take that long-overdue getaway out of the Baked Apple. Part of the problem is trying to figure out where to go. First inclination is to head up North (Canada), my stand-by vacation spot. Always love going up there to recharge the batteries. Haven't been there yet in the summertime, so I'm currently pricing out vacation deals that would bring me back up there before Labor Day and the start of football season. Of course, I'm open to other areas of the continent, but I want to go someplace that far enough where I won't be bothered yet close enough where I don't have to sit on a plane for more than two hours. What say you? The batteries are almost empty so I need to make this happen relatively soon.

I've been reconnecting with a lot of my college classmates of late and this weekend was no exception, as two more of my former mates stopped by the bar to say hello. We reminisced about the past and remarked about how quickly the years flew by (I graduated 21 years ago!). It's amazing how time flies by and how it's easy to take it for granted. Great to see Scott and Celeste! Just another reminder of a great era in my life.

A few weeks ago we sponsored a "field trip" to Citi Field where friends of Third and Long and Yellow Hook Grille enjoyed a game featuring the New York Mets and the Minnesota Twins. It was a BBQ/Open Bar affair with awesome seats as you can see in the pics below. A good time was had by all. So if you missed out on this trip, look out for the next one!

TONIGHT: Mug Night Madness, featuring $1 Bud/Bud Light mugs OR $2 mugs, all other domestic drafts ALL NIGHT LONG!

That's It. That's All I Got. Stay Cool.

You should go to Martha's Vineyard or somewhere on Cape Cod. Short flight to Boston (and then quick bus ride to Cape) or drive. I'm jealous of anyone who gets to sit on the beach this summer --all my money has been spent on attending weddings. No real vacation for me. Boo.
