Made in 1972, The Godfather was an instant hit when it was released. and is widely considered to be one of the best films ever made. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture and also spawned a sequel, The Godfather II in 1974, which also won the Academy Award for Best Picture. The fact that the sequel to a film also winning an Oscar is a rare feat in and of itself and a testimony to the Godfather legacy. It is simply a excellent film, with a great storyline, rich and memorable characters and lines, and one of those films that you never get tired of watching.
