BLOOD DRIVE PUSH COUNTDOWN (2 days left)....

Blood brothers & sisters,
We are preparing for a big day this Saturday at both Turtle Bay and 3rd & Long and expect to really help the NYC blood banks which are in dire need for replenishment. Bring family and friends even if they are not donating as a show of support if you like. Thanks so much for all of your help and your forwarding of my notices, because they are returning great success. Success to the point that the NY Blood Center has decided to put another mobile unit out in front of Turtle Bay on Saturday, so we can put a drop in the bucket of the need that must be filled daily here in the capital or the world.
2,000 plus units a day are used in NYC. It has taken the better part of a week to organize the donation of hopefully around 200 units in one day. That means that 1800 other donors are still needed to make a selfless donation just to make up for Saturday's need. Man, it is some daily trek that these blood center workers must make. To make matters even worse the banks are at one of the lowest points ever, at around 12,000 units versus the norm of 20,000 units which is the low end of the daily bank goal.

So, in Matt's name we really are doing a noble thing, and with so little energy necessary on our own part. A true no-brainer. Matt needed around (60) units in the first few days after the accident, and to date approximately (500) units have been donated in his honor. Good job to all and keep getting any somewhat healthy person you bump into on the "soup-guy" lunch line recruited, or better yet, get your boss hooked so then you could ply him with some spirits (post-donation of course) and have him sign you on for a big raise. All kidding aside, keep on getting the word out with your forward list. Matt will be appreciative of it. His family already is.

Thanks for the well wishes! It looks like it will be a success and we've had a lot of sign-ups! As for Matt, he's showing improvement every day. We think the worst is behind him, though the road to full recovery will be a long one. He's a feisty fighter, so we are confident that he will pull through. Thanks for asking!
