HOOFIN' IT

Word of the Day: con·cierge ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kô-syârzh)
n. A staff member of a hotel or apartment complex who assists guests or residents, as by handling the storage of luggage, taking and delivering messages, and making reservations for tours.

I spent the morning "hoofin' it" around Murray Hill, dropping off our weekly bar specials at the various hotels in the area. By doing this, I was killing two birds with one stone: I was getting my walking exercise in for the day (one of my personal resolutions), and I was getting our bar specials out to the hotels, which is something i've been meaning to do for a while now. We figure that since we have the NHL CENTER ICE hockey package, it would be a good idea to get the word out to the area hotels, especially since many of the visiting teams stay in the Murray Hill area when they are playing the NY RANGERS.

After dropping off a schedule with the concierge at the AFFINIA DUMONT PLAZA, I couldn't help but to wonder what it is exactly that a concierge does. I know that hotel guests go to them for special favors, such Broadway play tickets and such, but is that all? I'm sure there has to be more to it than that. When I arrived at the W Hotel, I was tempted to ask the concierge about his job duties, but he was busy with a "special guest", so I just dropped the bar info off with a front desk clerk. As I made the rounds, I quickly realized that there are more hotels in the neighborhood than I originally thought. Unfortunately, I was never able to get my question answered as I was unable to actually find a concierge to speak with.

Last night I took a walk 20 blocks to ANGEL's apartment with a buddy of mine to upload some pics from the BIG GAME BASH for the blog. I quickly realized that ANGEL's "little camera" carries MUCHO pictures! I helped her to upload her pics onto her new laptop and showed her the PICASA program that I use to store my pics. She tried to send a lot of pics, but unfortunately, OLD BETSY would only take a few pics at a time. Hence the small number of pics on yesterday's post. In any case, we were VERY impressed with ANGEL's apartment; very nice pad indeed! You go girl! (We have to talk about that damn cat though...)

DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS continues tonight with $1 mugs of BUD/BUD LIGHT all night long! Don't forget- for your hockey fix, we now carry the NHL CENTER ICE package! See you tonite!

BTW, if you haven't had a chance yet, check out AMERICAN PSYCHO's new blog, IT'S MY KIND OF TOWN ; It's a good read.
