BEING THERE FOR A FRIEND....

For the regular reader of the blog, you know how I have become close with many of the patrons that frequent the place. So close, in fact, that I don't even consider them patrons; I consider many of them true friends. And as supportive of me and the bar that many of them have been, through the fun-filled packed nights, to the slow and laid-back Sunday afternoons (post-football season), I know that can always count on them to support me and the bar through thick and thin.

So when I find that one of my friends are having a rough go of it, then you better believe that I am going to try and support them as much as I can. Not because of an obligation to return a favor, but simply because I want to as a friend, without question or hesitation. Such an occasion took place yesterday when a good friend had a rough day at work and needed such a friend. This person didn't really come out and say that they needed it, but you could tell in their email that they could use a friend at that moment. That was all I needed to read and so off I went, to spend some time with them and to make sure that all was okay.

It turned out that my instincts were correct and this person definitely needed a friend, even if to just vent. I was happy to set aside my stuff to be there for this person as they are very important to me, and it felt good to be there for someone. We ended up talking for hours and it was nice, not only for this individual, but for me as well.

The point i'm trying to make is this: In this business, people come and go all the time. Some folks leave a fleeting memory and others leave a solid imprint of their souls in your life that you will always carry with you. I'm happy that I have had the opportunity to come across a group of people who have left their imprint with me as long as I live, more than they will ever know. To have individuals deem me important enough to share their personal things with says a lot, and I am flattered by it. I may not say it much, but I appreciate them greatly.

TONITE: There is a private party at the bar from 6pm-9pm and is closed to the public. The bar will be open to the public after 9pm, at which "LITE NITE THURSDAYS" ($4.00 all light beers) will continue. We hope to see you then.
