WEEKEND RECAP

The past few days have been very relaxing in the neighborhood. Mother Nature was very nice to us to make up for the brutal heatwave she put us through last week. Cool temps (to the point where we actually didn't need the A/C), almost no humidity and cloudless, sunny skies made being at work a real pleasure. The only negative to all of this great weather on the weekend is that it drives everyone out of town and to the beach and the summer share house. That leaves the Avenue with little foot traffic for business.

FRIDAY: I spent the early part of the evening with THE MAYOR OF MURRAY HILL as he introduced me to his new "lady friend", TRISH the DISH and her friends. Very outgoing and pleasant to be around, I could see how he would be smitten.

The evening itself was mellow as the bulk of the foot traffic we had consisted of vacationers and B & T patrons. JON CUSACK and STIFFLER made a late night appearance and hung out a bit with some chicks, until a friend of theirs by the name of "BONEY" showed up. This guy was a drunken mess and apparently a nightmare to deal with for the ladies. You know this was a slow night if this was the highlight of the evening.

SATURDAY: I spent the day relaxing on a rare day off. Taking advantage of the great weather, I found myself strolling around lower Manhattan, still trying to figure out what the big deal is with the popularity of the Lower East Side. I mean, sure there are some cool looking restaurants and bars, but overall, I find the area pretty gross. Too dirty and grimy for me, I guess. Saturday night I found myself hanging out with ANGEL and AMERICAN PSYCHO at her place, for Ice Picks (Iced tea/Ketel One) and conversation. It was very relaxing until I found myself feeling the effects of the Ketel One concoction. Hit me like a ton of bricks. Felt it Sunday morning too. Damn you ANGEL.

SUNDAY: The day was pretty much like yesterday as Mother Nature continued to bless us with great weather. I spent the morning trying to nurse my hangover and reading the Sunday paper. The afternoon consisted of a peaceful nap with the sounds of NASCAR in the background. After which I took another stroll around the neighborhood, making sure to stay away from the West Side of Manhattan and the DOMINICAN DAY PARADE, before getting the motivation to update the blog.

I guess I really should take advantage of the relaxing time as I don't have too many free Sundays left. Football season is rapidly approaching and that means no more sleeping in on Sundays. *sigh*. I am also anticipating a busy week as my partner in crime will be taking some much-needed time off this week for a trip to sunny California. Lucky bastard.

So it's back to the old grind tomorrow, with DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS to start off the week. Hopefully the good weather holds out for us because it's great to be around here when the weather is perfect.

Check under May 30, 2006, Baby Girl. As a matter of fact, to prove that it's exclusive only for you, that will be your new blog name.
