HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!

Yesterday, there was a gathering of family and friends at SHEA STADIUM to celebrate the 40th birthday of one of our own, MATT LONG. While celebrating birthdays are always fun, let alone a milestone birthday like the 40th, this birthday was truly a special occasion considering what's transpired over the past 8+ months.

As you all know by now, our friend MATT was involved in a terrible accident during the Transit Strike right around the Christmas holidays. He was riding his bike on his way to work when he was struck by a charter bus; Sustaining life-threatening injuries, things were touch-and-go for quite awhile regarding his survival; But being the fighter that he is, not only did MATT survive the tragic accident, his hard work and dedication has brought him well on his way towards recovery. So it was with great pride and happiness that we were all able to share in the celebrating of his birthday; And what better place to do it than at the home of his favorite baseball team, SHEA STADIUM, home of the NEW YORK METS.

THE DON, taking a load off after putting together a great party for MATT...

Although there was a small threat of inclement weather, the weather gods did the right thing and kept the rains at bay so that everyone could enjoy the day. KUDOS to the LONG FAMILY for putting together such a lovely gathering of family, friends and supporters; there must've been a few hundred people there, easy. A tall undertaking, to say the least. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, not only in being able to celebrate MATT's birthday with him, but as a bonus, the METS won both games of a doubleheader. How fitting! Indeed a memorable day.

Happy Birthday MATT!
