Follow the daily interactions of an affable bar manager of pretty cool and not-so-typical watering hole in NYC, in a not-so-typical neighborhood, Murray Hill. There may be some blurbs overheard at the bar, stimulating observations and random thoughts on random things. So be careful, you never know what might end up here....Enjoy and welcome to my world!

THE END OF SUMMER AS WE KNOW IT.....
While working a double shift yesterday, I had a chance to see the neighborhood come back to life after a long weekend. During that time, it suddenly dawned on me that summer is over. Watching the locals return with luggage in hand and sad faces made me realize that it's back to the old grind. No more casual summer wear; no more free weekends; No more laid back atmosphere. Back to the hustle and bustle of the fall and winter season. It's a busy time for the bar and busy is always good in this business. But damn... it only seemed like yesterday when I was shoveling snow for what seemed like forever.
One good thing came from spending the day at the bar; Getting a visit from UCONN FAN and his lovely lady friend CATWALK GIRL, and NAPOLEON DYNAMITE reminded me of what's in store in the next few days: the revival of the SUNDAY BREW CREW. Everyone has been waiting in anticipation for another season of great games and great fun on Sundays. Just talking about it with these guys has my stomach in knots with excitement (and we know that's a lot of knots); I already know that it's going to be a great year. There will be the same familiar faces coming back, and I'm sure there will be some new ones to join us. I also have a few surprises rolled up my sleeves this year that will make things around the bar that much more interesting.... Stay tuned (heh, heh, heh).
Last night was pretty mellow for Monday standards; My guess is because many people were in no rush to get back to the city. Can you blame them? I expect a rebound tonight. Hats off to MR. LOW-KEY for hooking up the staff with yet another sample of his culinary talents. Talk about perks! Also got "fly-by's" from BABY GIRL and the duo of CUSACK and AFFLECK. Highlights of the night probably included the two ditsy chicks who spent most of the night being loud and obnoxious at the bar. And how could I forget the infamous related duo who only comes by on Dollar Draft nights, although they profess to be spectacularly wealthy? If that is so the case, why only come by on cheap nights? They are probably one of the most annoying patrons I've ever encountered (and they usually smell pretty ripe most nights too). Guess that tells you what kind of night it was. Like I said, I am expecting us to rebound tonight.
In the meantime, I have to get ready for NFL OPENING NIGHT this Thursday. It should be a blast!
DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS continues tonight.

Still trying to get up to speed on all the characters in your bar -- it's a regular ole "Cheers!" Summer is definitely over -- tah tah my favorite flip flops (unless I just wear them around the apartment). Do you have dollar shiraz days?
LOL...dollar shiraz, huh? If we sold dollar shiraz, I doubt if I'd even try it..... We do try to cater to the ladies on Wednesdays with $4.00 Coronas, Amstel Lights, Blue Moon Ale and Coors Light (if you like the beer thing); also $5.00 Cosmos, Appletinis and Margarita (if you want to be more of a diva)....
As for the "Cheers" motif; We do get our fair share of regulars, especially on Sundays (during football season) when the bar takes on a life of its own....
