BOY DO I FEEL LIKE AN ASS.....

About a month ago our building received a ticket from the Dept of Sanitation for having garbage on our sidewalk. Now as a general rule, we're responsible for keeping the sidewalk and the curb areas around the perimeter of the building clean; that means no garbage, cigarette butts, doggie poo, etc. This includes the side of the building where the residents of the building enter/exit. Someone from next door put out their garbage in front of their building in an area that was close to our building and as a result, the Ticket Police gave us the ticket instead of the building next door.

So our hearing date was scheduled for October 17th (today). Since we were fighting the ticket, I had to go to the hearing to represent the building. All weekend I was thinking about this hearing; most notably how to figure out where it was. Downtown Manhattan has a lot of confusing little streets and the location of the hearing was on one of these small streets. After working a L-O-N-G double shift on Sunday, I automatically woke up extra early on Monday to make the trek downtown for the hearing. I gave myself extra time so that I could find the place on time.

I was lucky enough to locate the building in a relatively short period of time; I arrived at the building at around 7:45am. The building didn't even open until 8am. As I stood in line waiting for the building to open, I decided to check my papers to make sure I had all of my documents in order. I looked at the ticket and sure enough, the date said October 17th. I began to think to myself.... Saturday was BABY GIRL's birthday and I knew that her birthday was on the 14th. Sunday was the 15th..... I quickly pulled out my cellphone, flipped it open and looked at the date: Monday, October.....16th! AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

I came down a day early. My hearing wasn't until Tuesday. I don't know why I thought the 17th was on Monday; All I know is that I felt like a jackass. Running on almost no sleep, getting up extra early and making the trek down for pretty much nothing. Well, at least I now knew where the building was. What an ass!

So I get to the hearing on time today, was in and out of my hearing in 20 minutes. At least that's over with. Again, I feel like a total ass. I still can't believe that happened. WTF...

On a good note, you gotta love it when a girl tattoos your name all over her boobies.

Thanks Mahogany!

I finally saw the film THE DEPARTED yesterday. Really good film. Great acting by an all-star cast, led by JACK NICHOLSON, who spits out some great lines! However the best part of the film for me takes place within the first 10 minutes of the film when I notice our barback OPIE CUNNINGHAM in one of the scenes. He's playing a mechanic in JACK NICHOLSON's garage, figuring predominately in the background. He has no lines, but you can definitely tell it's him. Good stuff.

DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS continues tonight. GAME 5 (METS/CARDS) at 8pm. Be there.
