THE LONGEST DAY
Sunday was as the title suggests, the longest day I'd experienced in quite awhile. It started quite earlier that normal when I opened the doors at 11am for a HUGE English Premier League soccer (or "the beautiful game") match between rivals ARSENAL and MANCHESTER UNITED (probably the equivalent of the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox in England). There to enjoy the match were ARSENAL supporters REDSKINS GIRL and the MAYOR OF MURRAY HILL, while MANCHESTER UNITED was supported by the likes of MR. TANQUERAY (on a rare Sunday visit) and TERRY FROM DERRY; other early risers included STIFFLER, BABY GIRL, and MR. LOW-KEY.
The match itself lived up to the hype, with MANCHESTER UNITED controlling most of the match, only to lose it in the final 10 seconds of injury time. ARSENAL fans were ecstatic while MAN U. fans were, safe to say, stunned. A great finish.
From there, we had a few hours to kill before the "real" football games began, so the crew hunkered down for some casual drinking. Of course, casual drinking only leads to, well, more drinking. By the time the first game began, the rest of the BREW CREW members were already in place, ready for some hardcore action (all except MR. CHIPS, who was sidelined with the flu).
The pics pretty much sums up the rest of the day. It was great times, indicative of the season in general. T-BILL pointed out towards the night that this was the last "regular Sunday" of the football season; it hit me that he was right. This was pretty much it for the 2006-07 Sunday Brew Crew football season. *sigh* Yes, we still have the Super Bowl in two weeks, but as far as the regular season goes, this was it. So we capped it with a toast of Gentlemen's Drinks (well, everyone except me, since I was still in observance of No-Juice January). An appropriate way to end the regular season.
Enjoy the pics!
Other highlights/things overheard include:
*Yours truly going 3-for-3 on "friendly wagers" throughout the afternoon. Woo-hoo!
*The Gas Face Award goes to STIFFLER whining like a bride left at the alter when he lost out on one of the wagers he thought he won.
*NAPOLEON DYNAMITE cheering wildly when he won a "friendly wager" and then falling off his stool and crashing to the floor, much to the delight of the crowd.
*One of the male Brew Crew members asking various women in the bar what the status of their "kitty" was (bald, Brazilian, etc.), and listening to the women actually answer the question!
*Speaking of women, being impressed by the sheer number of chicks in attendance overall (why weren't they here all season?)
"Friendly-wager" winner!
All eyes on the big game...
Need I say more?
Gentlemen's Drinks....nectar of the gods.
So that pretty much sums up the day. It was a long day. It was a fun day. We now know who's playing in Super Bowl XLI (Indianapolis vs Chicago). Now we have two weeks to hype up the BIG GAME. In the meantime, there's no football scheduled next Sunday, however, we will still be open for an afternoon of games and fun. Board games such as Scattergories, Taboo, Trivial Pursuit, as well as some Nintendo Wii action on one of the TV's. Should be a fun time.
Speaking of upcoming events- NEXT WEEK (the final week of January) is "MUST SEE TV WEEK", as a few of us will make our presence felt on network TV. On Wednesday, January 31, our own MASTER THESPIAN will be on the new ABC comedy hit, "THE KNIGHTS OF PROSPERITY" (9pm), while MR. LOW-KEY and yes, THE SWANFATHER himself will be on the NBC hit comedy "30 ROCK" on the following night (Feb 1., 9:30pm). We'll be airing both shows at the bar, so if you are around and want a good laugh, stop by and check it out. It should be fun!
Thanks again for a great football season! It was a blast. We still have the Super Bowl upcoming, but I wanted to express my appreciation for the support that you continue to show to me and the bar.
More to come.

Green Sleeves are sexy... when you aren't drooling on them.

COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT
You have a cute little bar, but you MUST do something about the hand washing equipment...Get towels or better yet, invest a few bucks in an Xcellerator.
Your competition has already done this (XII, Whiskey River and Black Bear Lodge)!
DEAR "ANONYMOUS"- As you know, we at Third and Long will make every effort in providing the best atmosphere possible; Thanks in sharing your concerns and rest assured, this matter will be looked into.
