A VISIT FROM A FAR AWAY FRIEND OF THE BLOG

Last night was DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS, and as expected, you got the usual cast of regulars who normally show up for the cheap brew. However, it was also an unusual night in that a few members of the SUNDAY BREW CREW were hanging out AND throwing back Dirty Martinis like it was going out of style. All of this was going on while I was awaiting the arrival of KAT, a regular reader of the blog who was in NYC for the first time (on business). She'd mentioned in the past that if she ever got to NYC, one of the things on her must-do list was to visit THIRD and LONG; so now was the time for her to do just that.

Now, it's always a bit weird when you are meeting someone for the first time. This was no exception; especially in light of the fact that through various emails and reading of each other's blogs, I felt like I already knew her. So even though I already felt that as if I'd known the woman for years, this was still going to be a bit awkward because here I was, finally placing the face with the emails.

Fortunately for me, when she walked up to the door and introduced herself, it was a natural fit. She was very down to earth, with a bright smile and she took to the place right away. We chatted up a bit, as if we'd known each other for years. Then she finally got to meet "the characters", from THE MAYOR OF MURRAY HILL, to DIRTY SANCHEZ, STIFFLER and finally, SILENT BOB (who stopped by after a work function). The rest of the night turned into a lovefest as she LOVED the Brew Crew and they enjoyed her company as well. I've never seen anyone laugh so hard after hanging out with these guys. I was a bit worried at first that she wouldn't be able to handle the boys (face it, they aren't for everyone). However, she enjoyed their company and ended up staying at the bar until closing time. I guess it's safe to say she enjoyed herself.

As for the Brew Crew boys, the Dirty Martinis did its job and had the crew feeling no pain within a few hours. The rest of the night... well there aren't enough words to describe some of the stuff that was taking place. Let's just say that it was a fun night for all, myself included.

The "Soggy, Dirty Martini Boys"

STIFFLER eying the "prize"...

Seize the Day!

SILENT BOB doing the Shakira "Hips Don't Lie" Dance..

Swapping stories with STIFFIE...

A tribal mating dance between predators...

What the bar would look like if I had as many Dirty Martinis as the boys did....

This is my upstairs neighbor (the one who likes to toss cigarettes out of his windows). He's a musician who plays with some band called VELVET CODE. An interesting character, to say the least. He says that you can look him up on MySpace. Folks, I have enough problems on my own, let alone find the time to look this guy up.

And finally, what night wouldn't be complete without a BONEY sighting? He popped up out of the blue, after celebrating his 27th Birthday. He stumbled into Third and Long and was somewhat disappointed when he didn't see his trust fund mentor around. Sorry Bone- CUSACK can't be at the bar every night. But Happy Birthday anyway!

Overall, a very weird but fun night. If the blog entry sounds strange in some places, it's because I'm typing this up while trying (very hard, mind you) to stay awake!

TONIGHT: Wednesday Night is LADIES NIGHT ($2.00 mixed well drinks for the ladies, $4.00 Amstel Light, Blue Moon Ale and Coors Light for all.) Ladies, feel free to stop by after work and enjoy a couple of cold ones before going home!
