THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN...


The Big East Tournament is in full swing and with that, we have our annual visit from the crew of guys from Buffalo, NY. Now these guys have been making that trek to NYC for the tournament every year for as long as I can remember. They are wild, crazy and fun as all hell. The running joke with them is that they come down every year, specifically for the tournament; but they somehow never quite make it there. Sure they have tickets for the games and such, and for the first day, they actually make it there... for a game; But somehow, they end up spending most of their time at the bar instead.

I arrived at the bar early and of course, there they are, waiting with baited breath to see me. As soon as I walk through the door, they scream out my name and we exchange pleasantries, as if it was yesterday. Immediately, they order up a round of Irish Car Bombs and of course, that ain't my thing, so I ended up doing a shot of Crown Royal instead (for the Canadian side of me, of course).

I'm there no more than 15 minutes and I find myself cleaning up puke in the Men's room; Someone from the crew (I'm not naming names but you know who you are), found the going rough and couldn't handle the drink; Ugh. Now I know how the barback feels. It was cool though. The guy apologized profusely and I good-naturedly busted his balls.

The bar ended up staying pretty steady through the night, no doubt due to the Big East tournament and the out-of-town fans that were there to check it out. A few of the regulars came in during the evening and ended up staying late themselves. Overall, a pretty fun night, if I do say so myself.






Kids, don't forget, DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME begins this weekend. We lose an hour, beginning at 2am Sunday.






NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK CONTINUES TODAY/TONIGHT with games from the ACC, BIG-1O, PAC-10, BIG-12 and a host of other games. Happy Hour begins at 4pm with ALL BEERS, MIXED WELL DRINKS and HOUSE WINES, $4.00 (4-8pm).




ONE LAST NOTE: Is it just me, or is THE AMAZING RACE: ALL-STAR EDITION the best reality show out there?


As much as I hate BOSTON ROB and his lovely wife, AMBER, you have to give them props- they certainly know how to play the game. It would be interesting to see some of the Brew Crew members on this show; the interaction and bickering between various pairings would be classic TV. For example: Imagine NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and ANGRY BLACK on the same team, fighting over a compass- or better yet, SILENT BOB and MR. CHIPS, well,just fighting. Priceless.
