MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IS ALMOST HERE!

It's almost time for the "unofficial" beginning of Summer with Memorial Day Weekend just around the corner! The weather for NYC this weekend should be almost P-E-R-F-E-C-T, which means that there will be a mass exodus to the beaches, starting on Friday.

That being said, many of you will start your weekend pre-game at the local watering holes, where you get to hang out with your work buddies one last time before the long weekend begins. We expect a pretty good turnout as well as the Thursday before a holiday weekend is traditionally a good night. There's also a NEWCASTLE promo beginning at 8pm with plenty of giveaways to keep everyone happy. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone before they break out for the long weekend.

As for the bar itself, we'll be open most of the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Monday), so for those of you who elect NOT to go away this weekend, you can rest assure that between you, me, about 10,000 sailors in for Fleet Week and a flock of tourists from god-knows-where, there will be plenty to do and see.

Speaking of FLEET WEEK, yesterday was the first day in town for the sailor boys and like clockwork, a few of them came into the bar and within minutes, they were pounced upon by smitten women. Next thing you know, there they are, sitting in laps, trying on hats, buying them drinks, while the single guys sit off to the side, either psyched to meet someone fighting for our country, OR pissed because they are making off with all of the single chicks. It's the same routine year-after-year. Funny stuff.

CONGRATS to A.C. MILAN on a hard-fought CHAMPIONS LEAGUE victory over LIVERPOOL!

On a different note, I was approached by an "irate" individual who wasn't pleased by the way they were portrayed in the blog a few days back. After basically ripping me a new one in the midst of a group of construction workers (which is cool, if it makes you feel better), this person stormed out of the bar before I had an opportunity to retort. Since I didn't get a chance to respond the way I wanted to in person, I will do so here (since I know they are probably reading this).

Anyone who reads this blog knows that I simply write about my observations of people and events as it pertains to the bar and my everyday life. Some things are funny, some are not. Some observations are strange ones, and some leave me speechless at times. If I am writing something about someone/something I see, it is based on MY observations of what is taking place at that moment. If there is something that someone is doing and it's strange or bizarre, funny or cool, I'm going to talk about it. If you are upset by the fact that I wrote about the way you were acting/behaving, then I'm sorry that you were upset by it. But I can't apologize for your behavior. The way you choose to carry yourself in public, well, that's on you.

And that's all I'll say about that.

LITE NITE THURSDAYS, (pre-Memorial Day Edition), $4.00 ALL LIGHT BEERS (bottles & drafts), ALL NIGHT LONG!
