OVERWHELMING SUPPORT

After our staff meeting on Monday night, I found myself back behind the stick on Tuesday, working the day shift. Now word had trickled out throughout the evening about our impending closing and by the time I opened the bar the next day, the phone began ringing off the hook. Phone calls from patrons and neighbors expressing shock, dismay and support for the bar. People from the neighborhood and patrons both present day and from the past dropped in throughout the day to lend their support to the bar. It was indeed overwhelming.

Speaking of overwhelming, the blog itself probably set a one-day record for number of hits in one day as curiosity seekers and well-wishers popped in to get the scoop on what's going on with Third and Long.

With that, comes the questions. What will happen to the bar? What will happen to you? Who is the landlord? Why is he doing this? And I can understand the curiosity and concern; it's natural to ask those questions. Honestly speaking, I don't have the answers to all of the questions seeing that everything just happened less than 48 hours ago. I can say, however, for me personally, once I've had a moment to catch my breath, I will sit down and sort out my options and go from there. I will keep you posted, I promise. I do want to thank everyone for their genuine concerns and well wishes as it really means a lot to me.

One interesting question I got was the one regarding the blog. What will happen to the blog? Well, I'll keep writing it until the very end and we'll see what happens from there.

As for last night, A.C. LAWRENCE REALTY hosted a Dollar Draft Madness Networking Party to introduce themselves to the neighborhood. Patrons were pleasantly surprised to see that they were getting free mugs of Bud and Bud Light, on A.C. LAWRENCE. The turnout was pretty good, to say the least. That coupled with patrons who came by the bar to say hello and to show their support to the bar, and it made for a really good night. I suspect that the next few weeks we'll see more of the same as we count down the days.


GIRLS NIGHT OUT tonight with $2.00 Mixed Well Drinks for the ladies, and $4.00 Blue Moon Ale, Coors Light and Amstel Light (for everyone), beginning at 5pm!
