HUMP-DAY BLUES
This week's moving pretty quickly and for once in quite a while, I feel like I've gotten a lot of work done. Yet for some reason, I still feel like I'm stuck in a rut. Normally if I know I've gotten a lot of things accomplished, then I feel pretty good. But for some reason, this week feels like I've only scratched the surface of a large mound of crap that still needs to get done. WTF.
The bar is slowly but surely getting back into its regular routine, which is a big relief. The last couple of weeks was a big scramble, with us all of a sudden having to put things back into place (staffing, stocking up the bar, making repairs, etc.), after realizing that we're here to stay after all (for a while at least). That added a lot of stress for me personally of which I'm only starting to get on top of now. Like I mentioned before, with all of that on the brain, maybe that explains why I feel like I'm stuck in a rut. WTF.
In the meantime, life around us goes on, right?
DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS this week were busy nights with some interesting storylines popping up here and there. For example:
*There was the gay Brazilian couple who almost got into a fight with a naive young lady because she approached one of them. She wanted to talk to them about Brazil, since she was planning on moving there in a couple of weeks "to work with impoverished youth"; One of the guys thought she was trying to hit on his man and proceeded to read her the "riot act"; things escalated and the poor girl was reduced to tears. Bless her heart. If she got shredded like that here in NYC, what's going to happen to her when she gets to Brazil?? WTF?
*Then there was the couple I bumped into when I was returning home from one of my coffee runs. They were sitting on my stoop, so I couldn't really avoid them. They looked like your typical intern types, freshly minted and probably still in college. So there they are, going at it, hot and heavy... hands all over the place, totally oblivious to anything around them. Standing right next to them and staring at them intently was MANHOLE-COVER GUY. He looked somewhat amused at what was going on, which was ironic because it's usually the public who is amused by him. For him, it was like watching TV, he was that entertained by the passion taking place on my stoop.
So when I interrupted the lovebirds to go into the building, not only did I get the "gas face" from the couple, I also got a grumble from MANHOLE-COVER GUY, which was strange because I'd never heard the man speak, let alone grumble. It was surreal. WTF?
And while all of this was going on, the beers flowed like a river.
Well, as I mentioned before, it's Wednesday and that means it's GIRL'S NIGHT OUT, with $3.00 Mixed Well Drinks (for the ladies) and $2.50 PBR cans (or 5/$10.00) for everyone, from 5pm - close! If that doesn't help to get rid of the HUMP DAY BLUES.... then I don't know what will.
Before I close, I want to wish ANGEL a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I also want to thank everyone who made submissions for the SUPERBAD advance screening tix. I have a couple of passes left for anyone who's still interested. Just get in touch with me via email (look in my profile-upper right corner) and they are yours. Advance screening takes place TONIGHT @ 7pm at Loews Kips Bay theater. You should get there at least 45 minutes early as passes doesn't guarantee entry (first come, first serve).
Hope you didn't forget your umbrella. It's kinda wet out there!
