PLAYOFF FEVER

Last night the NEW YORK YANKEES clinched a spot in the playoffs for like the 100th time, while the NEW YORK METS are keeping all of New York in suspense while fighting for their playoff lives. In any case, with the regular season ending this Sunday, look for PLAYOFF FEVER to kick into high gear, beginning next Tuesday.

As for matchups, the American League has its four teams in place: NY YANKEES, BOSTON RED SOX, ANAHEIM ANGELS and of course, America's team, the CLEVELAND INDIANS. Who plays who remains to be seen but it's looking like it will be Cleveland/New York and Boston/Anaheim in the opening round (barring any last minute shifts in team records).

The National League, however, is a different story altogether as the playoff picture remains very cloudy. Along with the NY METS, you also have PHILADELPHIA, ATLANTA, MILWAUKEE, CHICAGO, SAN DIEGO, ARIZONA and COLORADO fighting for the four spots. Anything can happen between now and Sunday, so all eyes will be on the National League.

As for the playoffs, you can be sure that we will carry EVERY game (both day and night), with plenty of drink specials to go along with the action. So plan on sneaking out for that long lunch if your favorite team is playing in the afternoon.

ON ANOTHER NOTE: If you'll take a notice on the side of the blog page, you'll note a countdown clock to a fun event that we like to call our Annual Guinness Great Irish Lift! Sponsored by Third and Long and Guinness, this is our annual toast to everything GUINNESS! We love this event so much, we'll even buy you the first pint! With great music from Ireland and plenty of Guinness flowing from multiple taps, join us for the big toast next Thursday, October 4th at 6pm!

Don't forget to check in tomorrow for the weekend lineup of fun at Third and Long. In the meantime, check out "LITE NITE THURSDAYS" with $4.00 all LIGHT beers (bottles AND drafts, 4pm-10pm)!

Gotta go!
