GRIDLOCK HELL
Today is the beginning of the United Nations General Assembly. At around this time each year, all of the member nations of the U.N. get together for a week of meetings, speeches and formal parties. While this is admirable and such, if you happen to live in New York City during this time (or worse off, in my neighborhood which is less than 20 blocks away from the U.N. building), this is the week of traffic hell.
Throughout the course of each day, traffic will come to a complete halt so that foreign dignitaries can be chauffeured around in police and secret service motorcades. It's as if we turn over all rights and privileges to them so that they can conduct their business in posh comfort. It's a royal pain in the ass. And when President Bush comes to town to address the General Assembly, forget about it. It is traffic hell times 100.
What as New Yorkers can we do about it? Pretty much just grin and bear it for the next week; Which sucks ass. Plan your trek into Manhattan accordingly- trust me, you are going to need the extra time.
On another note: Not sure what's going on with the blog site as many of my pics from yesterday's post seem to have disappeared. I'm working on retrieving the pics and hopefully they will be back up shortly.
