HOME REMEDIES
As most of you know by now, I've been under the weather for the past week or so. My symptoms have ranged from body aches, chills, fever, annoying cough, sweats, etc. Needless to say it's been a hectic time for me physically. Early on when I was at my sickest, I was thisclose to taking myself to the emergency room. And to be honest, the only reason why I didn't go was because it was a holiday weekend and who wants to languish in an emergency waiting room on a holiday weekend. For that, I rather languish in the comforts of my own bed.
In any case, over the course of the past week, I've been overwhelmed and touched by the many good friends and regulars of the bar who show concern over my well-being. From constant urges to see a doctor, to dropping off of meals or various medicinal "remedies" that is the "sure fire" thing to make me feel better, the most important thing is that it's the thought that counts and it warms my heart to see that people actually care about your well-being. It's almost like having a family away from home.
At this point, I'm probably about 90% back to normal. I still have a lingering cough and practically no voice (which is probably a good thing for some of you). One good thing that's come from all of this time in sick bay is that I've had a lot of time to reflect on a lot of things in my life. And with that, I've made some life-changing decisions. Nothing that I can talk about at this time, but in the near future I'll discuss. Let's just say that some decisions are long-overdue. Enough about that.
Just realized that today is Rosh Hashanah, a'la the Jewish New Year. That means that Murray Hill will be a bit quieter than usual as all of the neighborhood Jews will probably be observing. From tonight through Friday, you can expect things to be quieter than normal on the Avenue.
That being said, we're still observing GIRLS NIGHT OUT for anyone else who doesn't fall under that category and plan on being out and about after work. GIRLS NIGHT OUT, for those who are out of the loop, is the night where we gear our drink specials to the ladies of Murray Hill ($3.00 mixed well drinks for the ladies), so that they can kick back, vent about work, fashion, Britney, The Hills, and anything else they deem important in their lives at that moment. Not to leave the guys out of the loop, we're also offering $2.50 PBR cans (or 5 for $10.00), all night long. And also note that it's NO-RAP WEDNESDAYS, which means classic rock all night long. Just a change of pace on "hump-day".
By the way, just saw the bar on an episode of the new "Star Jones Show" (on Court TV); they came in a few weeks ago and did one of those "Man on the Street" interviews with bar patrons with the topic being "Men or Women: Who Talks More". In the background you could see SILENT BOB chatting away (lending credence to Men talking more than Women), and OPIE CUNNINGHAM pouring a mean mug of beer. Good stuff.
That's it for now. Thanks again for the well-wishes and the home remedies. Another update to follow.
