CHILLS AND THRILLS

The bar was teeming with fans of both BOSTON COLLEGE and VIRGINIA TECH, many of them alums of both schools. They were there to watch their schools battle it out in what turned out to be an epic, rain-soaked football game.

BOSTON COLLEGE had their #2 ranking on the line on the road against a pumped-up #8 ranked Hokies team who had a lot to prove on national TV. The game was overshadowed by a torrential downpour, which made the game a sloppy, defensive battle.

Va. Tech had most of the breaks going their way and held a 10-0 lead for most of the game. However, B.C. mounted an improbable last-minute comeback to pull out an exciting victory 14-10, much to the delight (or disgust) of most of the patrons in the room. A fantastic finish indeed.

Between that game, the Boston/Colorado World Series, Game 2 (Boston won again) and a bunch of happy-hour holdovers, it was certainly a busy night and the "tail factor" was huge! I love nights like that.

WEEKEND HAPPENINGS

FRIDAY: After-Work Happy Hour (5pm-10pm): $4.00, all Beers, Mixed Well Drinks and House Wines! NHL CENTER ICE package for all your NHL games!

SATURDAY: "Kick the Keg" Saturday (12pm-8pm): $2.00 mugs, ALL BEERS ON TAP ('til the keg runs dry)! ESPN GAME PLAN and the BIG TEN NETWORK for all of your college football needs!

Saturday night: the ANNUAL THIRD and LONG HALLOWEEN BASH! Great drink specials all night and a costume contest with bar tab prizes going to the best MALE/FEMALE costumes!

SUNDAY: FAN-tasy Football Sunday ($3.00 Bud/Bud Light pints all day long) with the NFL SUNDAY TICKET for all NFL games! This Sunday is also the Annual Torture the SwanFather Day (a.k.a SwanFather's Birthday), and that usually means an orgy of jokes, laughs, Gentleman's Drinks and good natured fun at my expense. So if you happen to be in the neighborhood, stop by and say hi! Who knows? I may even spring for pizza (a big step up from pretzels)!
