WEEKEND HAPPENINGS

Last night proved to be your typical Thursday night, filled with suits unwinding after work. There was a fairly large contingent from one of the local advertising agencies who gathered to celebrate the birthday of one of their colleagues. A tall young lady, celebrating her 25th, she made sure that she was the center of attention most of the night. Aside from her noticeable height, she actually wasn't that bad looking (in certain lighting anyways). But she had this thing "screeching" thing going on, where she'd screech out every song that played on the Ipod and begin dancing like a maniac in the middle of the floor with her friends. It got old real fast.

One funny thing came from all of this; At one point she decided that it would be a cool thing to stand on the Bouncer Box. In case you don't know what the Bouncer Box is, it's the wooden box that I keep by the front door and use to stand on when the bar gets crowded and I need to see what's going on in the back of the bar. I never quite understood the fascination that comes with standing on the Bouncer Box. I find it to be an overrated experience, similar to sushi, Starbucks and shiatsu massage.

So the birthday girl decides to stand up on the Box and "look cute". Her friend runs over and decides to take pictures of her. So there they are, standing on the box and glamming up for the camera when this guy walks over to her, looking amused. The birthday girl asked the guy to take some pictures of her and her BFF. With a smirk on his face, as he looks through the camera to take the picture, he suddenly blurts out:

"Gee, you have a nice box.....".

The comment went right over the birthday girl's head and I, of course, spit out my coffee. He laughed also, knowing that at least I got the reference.

Good stuff.

ON ANOTHER NOTE: I just want to say "Thank You", on behalf of the Staff of Third and Long, Coors Light and the children of St. Jude's Children's Hospital for your donations over the month of October with the "Buy a Pumpkin" program. Thanks to you, we were able to sell over 250 pumpkins ($264.00 to be exact), with all proceeds going to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
