ALL QUIET ON THE MURRAY HILL FRONT.

Last night was one of those rare quiet Thursday nights that felt eerie, yet serene. I was somewhat surprised at how quiet the street was, considering that there was a lot going on; Between the NY Rangers "now-or-never" game against Pittsburgh, and NBA playoff action and simply being a Thursday, a night where the Avenue is usually pumping. Instead, the whole neighborhood felt like a typical summer Sunday night: peaceful and serene.

The folks that did come in weren't your typical locals who like to hang out on a Thursday night at the neighborhood pub; there were a few tourists, here for the weekend. There were also a few "bridge and tunnel" types lurking about, but other than that, pretty quiet in general.

A few folks popped in and out that I hadn't seen in awhile. SUSHI SAMBA, for example popped in to say "hi" and to share some stories about NAPOLEON DYNAMITE's Bachelor Party in Las Vegas. He also "enlightened" me with a few flattering pictures of the guest of honor... All I can say is that it sounds like the boys really gave our friend one hell of a good time! Now if only he can remember any of it. Bless his heart.

I also ran into the woman who popped her boobies in my face back when the NY Giants won the NFC Championship. The funny thing about that is that doll baby didn't even remember doing it at first. I had to "re-create" the moment leading up to the ultimate "flash job" when she finally remembered. She was embarrassed at first, then got a good chuckle out of it afterwards. I think she was flattered that we complimented her on her boobies.

"What a country!"

On another note, I had the opportunity to speak to some neighborhood residents with ties to the Murray Hill Community Board. We currently enjoy a pretty good relationship with the Board and our reputation amongst the Board is pretty good. I asked about the scuttlebutt regarding the proposed time change for the operation of neighborhood bars (there's rumors floating around that bars would be required to close at 2am, as opposed to its customary 4am time). The sense that I'm getting is that it's not just rumor, there's some substance to it. I don't know if it will actually pass or not, but this is something that is seriously being looked at by Community Boards around the city, especially if you are a potential new bar owner looking to open a new establishment. Stay tuned...
