A SPECIAL DAY IN BROOKLYN....
For most people, Sunday was a relaxing day, filled with sunshine and not a care in the world. For one special person, however, Sunday marked a significant step in the long journey of recovery. Yesterday the KENNY DOLAN MEMORIAL RUN, 5k charity run/walk took place in Prospect Park. And while the race had many participants, one participant stood out for many reasons:
MATT LONG.
Yes, this is the same MATT LONG, who over two years ago, when making his way to work via bicycle on December morning (due to the MTA Transit Strike), was struck down by a rented commuter bus, on its way to pick up some employees of a major financial firm. The initial prognosis was grim, at best. There was even some concern that he wouldn't even make it out of the first weekend.
However, against all odds, he fought back and he fought hard and slowly but surely, overcame the obstacles to make an unbelievable recovery. Through months and months of operations and grueling physical therapy, MATT basically taught himself to walk again. And when he was able to do that, he bumped up his goals towards the next level..... to run again. Which brings us back to yesterday at Prospect Park.

One thing I can say for sure: I am truly proud of MATT. He's proven to me and everyone else yesterday that he is truly a fighter.

Oh! Who's the hot chick in the blue F.D.N.Y. shirt following Matt in those two photos? Holy hottie!!!
But really, that's quite a story about Matt. Hell, I'm only missing an ACL and I wouldn't try that let alone a walk around the block (unless the dog still hasn't pooped).
B to the...
Way to go, Matt!
