U.R.T.O. DINNER

Last night, I and some of the members of the staff had the pleasure of attending the United Restaurant and Tavern Owners Annual Dinner at Tavern of the Green. Last year, "The DON" was honored as U.R.T.O. "Man of the Year". This year's honoree went to Paddy Reilly, owner of myriad of bars and restaurants throughout the NYC area and John Doolan, Vice-President, Northeast, Heineken-USA. This was a great night for reminiscing, networking and of course, sampling many brews and spirits. Good times had by all, myself included.

On the way to Tavern on the Green, we drove by a grandstand setup outside of Central Park and it dawned on me that Thanksgiving was quickly approaching. Is it just me or does it not feel like your typical Thanksgiving holiday season? Usually by now, folks are in anticipation of making the annual trip home to the family for some turkey, fellowship and football. But to be honest, I haven't really heard much talk regarding the holiday so far. I wonder if the state of the economy has anything to do with it? It's been a shitty time for many people, with a lot of uncertainty in the air, so realistically speaking, how does one feel thankful for anything, especially if they lost their jobs or homes? Maybe things will change as the big day approaches.

In the meantime, it's time for NFL FOOTBALL as we present another edition of Thursday Night Football. This week's matchup features PITTSBURGH vs CINCINNATI in an AFC North battle. Of course, with this game being shown on the NFL NETWORK, you can't watch it at home (at least here in NYC) because of the NFL's ongoing battle with the local cable companies. You can only watch it on Direct TV and of course, we have it at Third and Long (along with the NFL SUNDAY TICKET, ESPN GAME PLAN, and the NHL CENTER ICE). Game begins at 8pm!

And don't forget to check out our great drink specials, including "Bucket O'Lights" (Miller Lite, Michelob Light or Coors Light, 5/$15.00).

What, you can't post my comment on Tina Fey?

Cincinnati is going to get killed tonight.
