AN INTERESTING NIGHT...
Had an interesting night. Went to a Community Board meeting to hear about a proposed opening of a new bar on our block.... or so I thought. As it turns out, I ended up sitting through almost two hours of droning from representatives from practically every political office in New York City, if not NY State. There was one blurb about the bar proposal: One of the local residents took his two minutes to go on a tirade about how there were too many bars on 3rd Avenue and that the block didn't need another one. That was it. I sat through two hours for that. Yay. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all that the Board does and what they are there for; I simply wasn't expecting to sit through a meeting where the main topic wasn't really the main topic.
I missed out on the beginning of Pub Trivia because of the meeting, so I was worried about how it was being run without my presence; Luckily the Trivia hosts had everything under control, so by the time I arrived, they were well into the night's competition. (last night's theme, by the way, was GRADUATION).
After Trivia ended, night got more mellow, with the spirited competition being replaced by small group conversations and couples canoodling. During this time, I took a stroll down the block to see what was happening at some of the other bars. While walking down the block, I noticed that some of the restaurants were already closed for the night. As I continued to stroll down the block, I see a group of people standing in front of one of the closed spots and having an animated conversation.
When I got closer to the group, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head and I see a mouse running around in the restaurant (I won't mention the name). I froze. I took a closer look and boom! There's another mouse. And another. And yet another! I cringe and walked away quickly, thinking to myself, "WTF!" Let's just say that I will be dropping by the place in the morning and giving them a heads up on what's going on after hours! They were lucky that the group that was there didn't have a video camera!
Other than that, it was a typical Wednesday night in Murray Hill.
One other note: Here's another reason why I'll never move to Texas.....
TONIGHT: Catch Game 4 of the NBA Finals (9pm) as well as Rivalry Week games featuring NY YANKEES vs BOSTON RED SOX and NY METS vs PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (7pm). It's also THIRSTY THURSDAY with Miller Lite/Coors Light buckets (5/$15), from 5-9pm. That's followed by $4.00 Domestic Drafts the rest of the night!
Nuff Said
