GAME 7.... BRING IT!

Last night was do-or-die for the Pittsburgh Penguins as they faced off against the reigning champs, the Detroit Red Wings. Down 3-2, the Red Wings were poised to reclaim the Stanley Cup in front of the Penguins' crowd for the second year in a row. The capacity crowd at the bar felt the tension coming from the TV's as both teams took the ice. The game turned out to be a war of attrition, with both teams playing somewhat tentative, as if they were playing a chess match. No one wanted to make that first mistake. It wasn't until the second period when Pittsburgh drew first blood, much to the delight of the home crowd. They followed up with another goal and the home crowd went crazy, as did the Penguins supporters at the bar. The Red Wings turned up the heat when they scored a goal to make the game close, 2-1, however, the Penguins were able to withstand a last minute charge to knot up the series, 3-3 and take it back to Detroit on Friday for the dreaded Game 7. Of course, we will have that game, front and center. Stay tuned.

Speaking of the game, a funny incident took place during the heat of the game. Two girls rode up in a fast moving cab when the cab driver stopped suddenly, causing the girls to lunge forward and hitting the plexiglas partition. One girl suffered a cut on her nose and when they climbed out of the cab, the driver left the girls on the curb, upset and crying. One of the girls ran into the bar to fetch the other's boyfriend. When he came out, the girl was whining about what happened; the guy tried to show compassion but I guess he was too caught up in the game because he ended up leaving the girl on the curb while he ran back inside to catch the end of the game.

You can't make this stuff up.

PUB TRIVIA tonight. 8pm. Great prizes and drink specials all night long. I expect to see some new competition there!
