GOOD THINGS COME IN "SMALL PACKAGES"
Last night's PUB TRIVIA turned out to be a really good night, in more ways than one. First off, it got a nice bump at the start when an older group of patrons got together for a "mini-reunion" of sorts. They all went to Intermediate School together; ironically enough, they all also had a connection to the bar in a roundabout way. As it turns out, THE DON'S DON, proud papa of all of The LONG brothers, used to own an ice cream parlor back in the day. We're talking about one of those old-school parlors, complete with the soda jerks, egg creams, white uniforms, fountain drinks, etc. This group either worked there or were patrons there when they were growing up and they somehow kept in touch all of these years. We're easily talking at least 20-plus years ago. Hell, maybe even 30! It was pretty nice to see the reactions of each person as they walked into the bar and saw their old friends.
By 8pm, the bar began filling up; so much so that some of the PUB TRIVIA regulars began to grumble because they couldn't get to their usual seats. I guess that's a sign of a busy night ahead. The competition went off without a hitch, with almost 20 teams competing. The competition was fierce yet good-natured and everyone seemed to have a good time.

As for my opening title, good things do sometimes come in small packages. In this case, by way of a "mini-celeb" appearance at the bar. The person in this case? ALICIA SACRAMONE, the silver medal-winning gymnast in the recent Beijing Olympic Games. While she was very petite (I guess I should have expected that), she was smoking hot and her entourage wasn't bad either.
As it turns out, she's famous for something else besides her world-class gymnastic skills. Apparently she has a left-hook that will make one take notice immediately:
Whoa! She can work security for me anytime!
Overall, it was one of our better Pub Trivia nights; no complaints here!
TONIGHT: "Thirsty Thursdays" featuring Miller Lite/Coors Light buckets (5/$15) from 5-9pm; After that, enjoy $4 domestic drafts from 9pm-close!
Thanks for stopping by and see you tonight!
