THE LAST HURRAH...

Today's the last day of August and the last unofficial week of Summer (as we know it). The season went relatively quickly without much to show for it, thanks to the miserable weather we had during the first half of the summer. If you really look at it, it was a tale of two summers: Wet and dreary in the beginning, hot and sticky towards the end. With a week left leading to Labor Day, I hope that Mother Nature at least gives us one week of good weather to send the summer off on a high note.

I also realized that I only have one Sunday left to myself before getting back into the swing of BREW CREW SUNDAYS. Mind you, I love working on Sundays as the camaraderie that comes with BREW CREW SUNDAYS is something I'd never miss. However, there is something to be said for having that one day to sleep in and enjoying the sounds of the foot traffic in the background. But it is what it is, so it's one more weekend of freedom before putting on the game face for the upcoming Football season.

ANOTHER SIGN OF THE END OF SUMMER: The U.S. Open kicks off today and for once, I'm actually excited about it. After 25 years of living in the NYC area, I finally went to the U.S. Open for the first time last year. While I am not the biggest tennis fan by any stretch, I was blown away by the production that they put on over there in Queens. The tennis facility is top notch and you are literally on top of the action. They say that the best time to go is during the early rounds, where you can get to see not only the top-ranked players but the up and coming future stars all at once. I'm looking forward to checking it out again and if you have an opportunity, it's worth it to see in person.

YET ANOTHER SIGN OF THE END OF SUMMER: College football kicks off this Thursday night with some pretty good matchups and of course, we'll be on top of the action from opening kickoff to the BCS Championship in January.

GAME NIGHT tonight with $2 Domestic Draft mugs (Blue Moon, Brooklyn Pennant Ale, Lighthouse Ale, Sam Adams or Sam Summer Ale) or $1 mugs Bud/Bud Light/Coors Light ALL NIGHT LONG!

AND FINALLY: I got an email the other day from one of the BECKERMAN sisters. They are fashion designers who used to live in the neighborhood but have since moved back to Canada. She was watching TV the other night and freaked out when she saw this scene from the show Cold Case Files (I think that's what it's called- on the A & E Network). A scene with an old school Third and Long on it. We haven't looked like that in almost ten years! The funny thing about this particular scene was that the show tried to play it off as if it was in Baltimore, MD! Go figure!

That's it for now. Don't forget about GAME NIGHT! See you then!
