"LIGHTEN UP FRANCIS"...

Last night's PUB TRIVIA was filled with new faces again, which always pleases me. At the same time, with new faces, you have newbies who don't quite get the whole Trivia thing. So you find yourself being patient while the host explains how the game works. It takes longer to get the questions out; longer for the teams to bring up answers. The host has to shout out the questions/answers over the newbies while they are talking, only to have them ask the host to repeat himself because they didn't hear him. Ugh. You get the picture.

Then you get "THAT GUY" who has to shout out comments/answers to illicit a response. Usually works once or twice, After that, it gets tired. But it goes with the territory; every week there's someone who wears the "THAT GUY" hat. Ugh again.

The trivia itself went pretty well. Everyone seem to have a good time, in spite of the length of the game (a little longer than usual). I did experience a bizarre moment, however, when one of the patrons got annoyed because another patron was wearing an Obama t-shirt. Apparently this guy was not a fan of political t-shirts so he kept shooting glares at this guy and making comments. Granted he had more than a few brews in him but still. REALLY? To make a big stink over someone wearing an Obama t-shirt was a tad bit extreme.

The last thing I want to do is to play t-shirt police, dictating what is okay and not okay to wear. As long as you got sleeves on it, it's fine by me. If you have a problem with someone's shirt, don't look at it. But to shoot glares and make a big stink over it is simply ridiculous. There are more pressing issues in this world.

In the words of the ever-wise Sgt. Hulka ("Stripes"): "Lighten up Francis".

"Thirsty Thursdays" rules the night with $15 Buckets of Miller Lite/Coors Light (5-9pm), followed by $4 Domestic Drafts! TAMPA BAY vs MIAMI (8pm) and a Newcastle Brown Ale promo (9pm).

I missed the part where he was mad at the guy for wearing a t-shirt.

Did the guy even notice?
