SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION!
The last two nights we've experienced a ton of foot traffic, filled with fresh faces. This is the time of year where colleges and universities around the city experience a rebirth as the fall semester kicks into high gear. And as a result, bars like ours are the benefactors of that rebirth. In our case, we get our boost from the NYU medical and dental students. This is the time where they get their ice breakers going, meeting each other for the first time and going nuts before the rigors of academia kicks into high gear.
Every year the ritual is the same, the only difference? The faces get younger (or I simply get older). They come to the bar, get excited about dollar drafts and hang out until all hours of the night, feeling like big spenders with their crumpled up dollar bills. Eventually they fade away as the rigors of medical school suck the life out of them. Then from time to time, they will re-surface, depending on the school schedule; holiday breaks, after exams, etc. It's all part of the cycle.
In the meantime, we enjoy hits like we've gotten the past couple of nights and you go with the flow. It's always nice to see fresh faces and hopefully they will stick around.
