AND THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS...

Last night was much the same of what we had the previous two nights: lot of small groups of friends, reuniting for New Year's Week; Co-workers seeing each other off before their holiday break; curious tourists looking for things to do and suggestions for New Year's. The usual suspects. Lots of calls for Pub Trivia, which was interesting (Pub Trivia returns next Wednesday). What was interesting was the number of people who were dressed up as if last night was New Year's Eve. Very posh. Maybe they were doing a test run for tonight's activities. Hmmm.

As we approach the end of 2009, it's pretty safe to say that it's been one hell of a year. Between the economic meltdown, notable deaths, job uncertainty, sports achievements and such, 2009 was one for the ages. Probably one of the toughest overall in recent memory.

With that being said, New Yorkers kept their resolve and made it through. Now with things beginning to look up, here's looking at 2010 with lots of hope and promise for a much better year.

New Year's Eve should be especially interesting since we're expected to have a full moon (and you know what that usually brings). Not only a full moon, but a "blue moon" (a rare occurrence when you get two full moons in the same month). So remember to take notice of that in your travels tonight. The unexpected snowfall this morning should make tonight's trek a messy one so be careful. For those of you who plan on doing the ball drop in Times Square, dress warmly.

We're open during normal business hours this afternoon, then we'll be closed for a private party (9pm-1am) but will reopen to the public afterwards.

On behalf of the staff of Third and Long, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

That's It. That's All I Got.
