DA BEARS!
The much-hyped "Last Monday Night Football Game of the Decade" ended up being one for the ages as the Chicago Bears, having nothing but pride to play for, beat the Minnesota Vikings, (who had plenty to play for) in overtime, 36-30.
The Bears controlled the first half of the game, shutting down the high-powered Vikings offense, 16-0. However, with the NFL's golden boy, Brett Farve on the field, one had to expect him to rev up the engines sooner or later. And sure enough, the Vikings got themselves back in gear and roared back into contention, eventually tying the game with mere seconds left in regulation, 30-30.
Overtime saw both teams get a couple of possessions each before the Bears shocked everyone at Soldier Field as well as a packed bar here in NYC when they went for all of the marbles on first down with a bomb-diggity pass downfield for a touchdown and a shocking 36-30 OT victory. Great finish, and I'm sure it helped to deflate many weekly pools in the process (mine included). ESPN must have been happy with that result, ending their Monday Night Football season on a high note.
It also must have made many of the patrons happy as quite a few of them ended up staying at the bar until well past 3am. Pretty late for a Monday night. There should be more of that tonight as "DOLLAR DRAFT MADNESS" kicks into high gear with more of the $1 mugs that everyone craves.
That's It. That's All I Got (for now).
