IT'S THE WEEKEND!

As we approach the long holiday winter weekend known as President's Day Weekend, take note of the following:

1) It's also Mardi Gras Weekend, where we celebrate everything decadent leading into Fat Tuesday. Speaking of which...

It's also Valentine's Day on Sunday, for all of you self-professed romantics who feel like they need this day to show how much they love their mates. Most of you already know my thoughts on this farce of a day so I won't rehash it here. In the meantime, if you are a hater of the day as much as I am, join us on Sunday as we "vent" over the farce that used to be Valentine's Day. $2 mugs, ALL BEERS ON TAP* and who knows? You might meet someone the right way!

We finally get to enjoy the splendor and dramatics of the 2010 Winter Games from Vancouver Canada, beginning with the Opening Ceremonies tonight. The ceremonies always bring out the best in people and each Olympics try to outdo the other when it comes to pomp and circumstance. Ski Jumping kicks off the actual sporting events today while most of the good stuff begins tomorrow. I, personally, am looking forward towards the Women's Curling competition and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

IRELAND vs FRANCE in Six Nations Rugby tomorrow morning (11:30am); We continue to expand our international sporting horizon with this much-anticipated matchup live on TV. Should be cool to check out.

Can't forget the NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND with the Super Skills competition on Fri/Sat and the actual game on Sunday. They are playing this game in Dallas in front of 90,000 folks at the Cowboys Stadium! Call me crazy, but I thought basketball should be best watched in a more intimate venue.

And finally, President's Day Weekend wouldn't be complete without the running of the DAYTONA 500 on Sunday! NASCAR's version of the Super Bowl kicks off the season with Jimmie Johnson gunning for a record 5th consecutive Sprint Cup Championship.

That, my friend, makes for a busy weekend!

I want to thank everyone who turned out for Pub Trivia last night. It was rescheduled from its normal Wednesday night (due to Snowmageddon), which cut down the number of teams a bit; however, the teams that did make it for the competition had a good time with this week's theme: Valentine's Day.

So, that's what's on tap this weekend. Plenty to do. Plenty to see. Take some time to enjoy it, whether it be with us or on your own. Life's too short to spend it on the couch.

That's It. That's All I Got.
