A SOLID TEN INCHES....

No, we're not talking about my ideal anatomy number. We're talking about the final amount of snow recorded in Central Park during yesterday's snowstorm. The outer boroughs got hit with anywhere from 12"-18" of the white stuff in a storm that actually came to fruition.

While most of the city was hard hit by the storm, I have to say, at least for Manhattan, I was expecting more, based on all of the hype we got from the pesky media. As I worked the day shift, I did notice periods where it looked as if we were going to get pummeled by the storm, but those turned out to be brief hits. The downside of a storm like this was the effect it had on our Direct TV dish. The amount of precipitation falling on the dish wrecked havoc on our signal and it really caused problems for us in the evening when the poor brave souls who made the trek to our bar to catch some hockey were at times, out of luck due to signal outages. But they took it in stride, considering what we were dealing with.

As I look outside the window, 3rd Avenue looks pretty much back to normal, as well as most of the sidewalks. While I can't speak for the rest of the city, one of the perks of living in Manhattan is the quickness in which the streets are cleaned up after a snowstorm.

Everyone is expected back to work today and most of the area schools are re-opening or having late starts. So much for the winter break.

As for us, we're getting back into the swing of things as well. PUB TRIVIA's Tournament of Champions, postponed last night due to the weather, has been rescheduled for tonight (7pm). So if you were planning on making it down to compete with your friends/co-workers, you can do so tonight. Free to play with cool prizes up for grabs. $4 Domestic Drafts (5-10pm) is the drink special for the night and V.I.P. specials for members of the Pub Trivia Facebook group, so if you haven't become a fan of Third and Long's Pub Trivia yet, click on the LINK so that you may capitalize on the specials only available for the group. Hope to see you tonight!

So dig your way out of the snow and enjoy the day! TOMORROW: Weekend Happenings, including the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and Mardi Gras Weekend!

That's It. That's All I Got.
