SUPPORTING A CAUSE

Hi again! I was asked by one of our regulars to sound the horn for a cause he's working on. AMERICAN PSYCHO is one of our longtime regulars and he's about to embark on a eye-opening adventure for a good cause. Here's his story:

Hello friends and family!

I’m going to Africa and I need your help! You all know me well, and you know how I like to travel - first class, luxurious hotels, and drinks with little umbrellas, right? Well, not this trip, not at all!

This adventure, as I’m sure it will be just that, is a product of my best friend Ashlie Fulmer. We’ve been friends for almost 15 years, heck she was my first girl friend ever! She and her husband Ryan (yeah, we didn’t last as a couple), will be adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia this summer. While being a dedicated teacher, a highly regarded photographer, and an all-around amazing human being, Ashlie was approached by the non-profit organization, Visiting Orphans to lead a mission trip to Uganda and Ethiopia. In an effort to help children, just like the one who will soon become her son, she agreed to do what she does best, lead by example!

That’s how yours truly is smack dab in the middle of what will most certainly be a life changing experience…Most of you know, I’m not much of an outdoorsman, a craft-maker, or in any way a runny-nose wiper. Which is just one more reason, I’m going on this trip and why I need your help!

While traveling through both Uganda and Ethiopia we will have the pleasure (and I mean that) of working at Canaan Children’s Home, Mother Teresa HIV orphanage and many more…We’ll be delivering school supplies, food, and sometimes just playing with the children, trying to make their lives easier even if it’s only for a day.

Needless, to say, I’m extremely excited, and not to mention kind of petrified about this upcoming experience. I have taken some calculated risk over the past few years, professionally and personally, but am quite unsure how this trip will affect me as a person. I just know it’s time to do something substantial for someone other than myself.

I need to raise over $3000 for this 14-day trip, so any help, large or small, will help, I promise!

Donating is quick and easy!

  1. Click on the link: https://www.visitingorphans.org/donations/donate.aspx
  2. Enter the amount you wish to donate
  3. Select the July 2010 Ethiopia/Uganda trip
  4. Write Kevin Swan for the team member’s name
There you go! Like Kevin says, any little bit will help. He's almost there (goal wise) but he could use a little push to get over the top. So if you have a couple of bucks lying around, help a brotha out!

The readers have always been supportive of the blog and its various fund-raising efforts over the years and I am confident that you'll come through again! As always, thanks for your support!

Cheers!!
